MPBT3025 had no single player, and it was fine (as long as it lasted).

If MW:O gets a realtime planetary map like 3025 had I'd be content. I do think it needs more than just random drops to succeed in the long run however.

This thread needs some attention.

I dont WANT a single player storyline in my MULTIPLAYER game. Tastes like **** when mixed.

However... I DO want the battletech universe to visit this game. The clanners are on the brink of invading? Who knew? Certainly not the new-to-series cat. Consequence of that last match? Loss of control of the frozen wastes house Steiner. OH LOOK OUT, you're being entered into a Co-Op this time! It's you and 7 of your PuG buddies defending "river city" from the invading clanners! (2 assaults, 3 heavies, 2 mediums and a scout.)

Hey! It's march 23rd, and guess what? The republic just took over the citiy of liam! New stage! Wrest control from the bad guys by selecting "co-op" as a battle option!

Ok. Thats my take. Now, please tell me why this would be a bad, damning idea.

If there was a "vote" for more of a story or some kind of path for gameplay, and one doesn't already exist. I would vote for the Planetside 2 model which is also F2P.

Spawn from a Dropship (Warpgate) attack targets for resorces or capture bonuses. Some captured targets let you repair or refurb your mech and move on. Clans could function like the three empires on Planetside 2.

A constant tug of war between capturing targets ensures there's always a reason to attack another lance, again, and again.

Otherwise its a point grind machine to see how 133t my build can be.

Just my $0.02

I think it's up to PGI to set the stage so that us players can create the story.

Basically they should be designing this to be a sand box MMO and not just multiplayer FPS.

You see those InnerSphereNews flashes? That's your storyline.

The story is this... It's the hippies versus industrialists and the fight for/against cheap molding.

You see to make cheap molding it all starts on River city, where stray cats are rounded up to be used as fuel for the factory ovens on caustic... You heard the screams of the cats going by the smoke stacks right? Well, now they also need wood which they get from forest colony, and then baby seal skins from frozen. It took awhile for the under cover agents to understand the baby seal skins... but it all tied back to the kittens... They scratch, a lot... So you need gloves to handle them.

Now this is where you come in. Are you fighting for or against them? Do you support the molding overlords?

They really need to add some PvE content, especially ones connected with BT lore. It's such a rich background not to make use of it. An online game should be immersive, not just attempting to get the next mech or unlock. Even in terms of PvP, this game is nowhere near the content of Battlefield 3 multiplayer.

While single-player mode should wait until major bugs (netcode, lack of maps/mechs) are ironed out, they should consider a co-op mode. Crye3 engine comes with basic AI, so you don't have to start from scratch.

I would think it iis a wasted opertunity if they do not release a single player or at least an instant action.

They tried initially, but no one wanted to fund a single player MechWarrior game. They did find investors for an F2P game, though, so this is what we get.

OP should go read the Dev blog 1 on CW to see what PGI holds in stock for us, eventually, which is enough to make one fap and hope that PGI does go through with it. I'm fairly certain that the last thing PGI wants is WoT in BT space.

I know it sounds like a ******** question since its called Mechwarrior 'Online', but does this game have single player storyline? I mean it's such a waste to see a Mechwarrior game returning after all this time but without a storyline....Dat potential!! Uuhh

No it doesn't have a real storyline, but then again I couldn't find one in the Twilight series either....

For example, the Clans will be taking Phelan Kell hostage on "The Rock" in a little more than one week from today... they will be coming. There will be chances to participate in historical battles, and they eventually plan on introducing the Solaris Arena battles after the game takes better shape.

yet...last august they claim he was missing...seriously i'm pretty sure last august around the 13th there was a thing about phelan missing in the periphery

They should have tried Kickstarter.
