The Japanese always have the coolest toys. This time, it's the first step in Mechwarrior armament. Check out the Kuratas by Suidobashi.

Sure, it's got wheels instead of legs but I want one!

The japanese are just waiting for the right moment... Once they unleash their underground army of super fighting robots we are all awesomely screwed. I for one welcome our new robot overlords and would like to express my potential usefulness due to years of simulated mech combat.

Heh, interesting that you can actually get inside it, thats pretty cool.

Looks a little weird when you look at the whole thing with its "legs" spread out.

Don't know who would buy it cept the super rich or maybe some security firm with some mods ?

I could see something a little better designed maybe being used for like a medivac in a warzone to maybe grab the wounded etc.

Don't think it would fare that well taking any kind of large arms fire like rpgs or something tho unless radically up-armoured.

It's a light mech. Mobility is its savior! But it doesn't really have that right now either...

I like that it already has multiple hardpoints for ballistics and LRM/SRM. Put some mounts for energy and it'll be in business.

it moves at 6MPH...that isn't very inspiring. you could outrun it on foot or on a bicycle. if you had a slurrpy and a m80 you could really ruin this things day

They're already thinking beyond the toy aspect of it. Like there were enquiries to use it as a firefighting tool. It's a beginning though.

What I found really interesting is that the thing weighs 4( or was it 3) tons. Doesn't look it. Kinda puts in perspective the weight system of the BT mechs. I think 30 tons for a mech that's about Jenner height with armour/weapons is about right.

Also liked the fact that the trigger mechanism for the gun is a smile from the pilot done by facial recognition software.

Make a 4 ton robot to intrigue others... though has yet to have any locomotive capabilty. Not impressed.

And if a person really wants to get nitpicky about what is unimpressive about it (which I do because this is a personal pet-peeve of mine), this mech isn't even close to the definition of a "robot". It is far from autonomous. On that tangent, most of the things we call robots are just fancy, remote-controlled devices. Perfect example are ALL of the entries in ab "Robot Wars" competition.

But com'on! It's a baby mech!!
