Can we not turn this into a Mac vs PC thread?

and just post technical help for people.

Since we know its an eternally circular argument.

It will always come down to PC vs Mac. Macs were NEVER intended to be gaming machines and the proprietary nature of Apple products ensured that that circumstance would never change. Sure, dual-booting will allow a Mac owner to play "the good games" and use Microsoft Outlook, but their machine has to have stuff done to it to permit it, like SPEND MORE MONEY. (One of my sons was tech support for Mac-books and said Mac owners were the dumbest people out there - they could usually not tell him what was wrong with their mac-book, only that "it doesn't work".)

If a Mac person wants to play the game, he will have to spend more money than he already has - even I find that to be poor fiscal sense. So, spending less to play the good games (and do all the other stuff, too) or spend way more than you should to dual-boot - why can't mac owners be teased some.

Bootcamp and buy OS 7 64-bit Home edition. OR, just spend the cash on a $600 windows-only based computer and keep your Mac for all of the other stuff it does well. Or just buy a PS3 and play Dust 514.

It would be nice, but sadly I wouldn't get your hopes up.

I have windows installed via bootcamp on my MacBook pro and it plays MWO just fine, as long as you have a strong enough processor and video card you should be good, I have both a PC and a Mac but I never get into the Mac vs PC debate simply because it's the same as debating politics and religion, nothing is ever accomplished by it and someone always ends up getting hurt.

One thing; a Mac isn't going to be any better then a powerful PC for CAD programs, that is a misnomer that Apple trades on. My friend is an Architect and felt royaly ripped off when he spent a mint on a computer he can't do anything on(without Apples ok).

I always laugh when people say that Macs are meant to do graphic design and 3D work when most of them don't even have a dedicated GPU.... Too bad they don't understand usually what I mean when I say GPU.

I run high end games on my Mac Pro and everything else (gog.com etc.) on my 2009 MacBook Pro. Both machines work like a dream. The Mac Pro absolutely dominates even graphically intensive games. Such as MWO. I run windows 7 pro 64 bit on a dual quad core Mac Pro with two SLI Radeon 5770s, 12 Gb RAM and a Seagate SSD. zero problems running literally any game out there at top resolution so far.

I did not pick Mac to show off or to waste money. I picked the product line for its rock solid build quality and amazing customer support. Yes, yes I know I have to pay extra for this and more money for the brand. Oh well, TANSTAAFL.

The real breaking point for me was digitally converting my DVDs and TV shows. I can rip a two hour movie with full DVD resolution, subs and three different audio choices in 13 minutes or so. Most pc gaming machines simply won't do that well at this task.

Reasons to use a Mac...
Superior physical build quality to most pc desktops out there ( with obvious exception of Falcon NW and other gaming builders)
Top notch support via apple care
OS X is a great operating system, really nice interface
When I need it, I can always run windows via boot camp
Audio visual and digital conversion it is still king

Reasons to buy a PC...
Much lower price point. Not saying cheap here, I love the deals out there on some of the better PC gaming rigs.
Customization. Building a powerful computer at home from scratch is just plain fun. And I love the dizzying array of options out there.
Best choice for pc gaming exclusive use.
Again, lots of fond memories of building computers, starting with my first, a Pentium 3 300 MHz back in 1998.

In short, don't be hating just because I have a shiny apple on the side of my desktop. The game doesn't care and neither should you.

Oh, and if anyone has any questions installing boot camp or running windows in general, shoot me an email. I would be more than glad to help. The more players the better, amiright?
