A gauss rifle uses magnets to accelerate projectiles right?
Therefore the rounds/ammunition being used shouldn't have any propellant, but rather just be fast moving slugs right?
Gauss Rifle ammo shouldn't explode if its just chunks of metal!
That said, according to the Sarna wiki, shouldn't the Gauss Rifle itself be considered the ammo, and not the ammo?

So the Gun Explodes not the ammo? but it's the same result right? or can other guns still function with an ammo explosion? Or am I missing something.

If they followed the rules of the TT, which I don't know why they wouldn't, for this, then yes the gun explodes not the ammo.

Other guns can still function after an ammo explosion if there's more ammo with 99% of the time requires ammo to be stored in two places (not a normal setup) since ammo explosions usually take entire sections with them.

Anyways. Gauss rifles explode when hit (the capacitors exploding), but the ammo itself is inert and safe. A critical hit on gauss ammo does render it unusable (breaks the ammo feed). That's getting off easy, though. While 20 points isn't very nice, its much more survivable than an ammo explosion that is usually to the tune of a couple hundred.

Y0u got the gist of it red-rider.

The charging coils can have catastrophic failure and spill out a whole mess of energy should they fail. And the gun is dead. The ammo, should you have another Gauss, might still be usable, if they use common magazine type rules.

The primary difference? A Gauss explosion will gut the location it's in, pretty much guaranteed, but has about 1/10 to 1/20 the force of an ammo explosion, which pretty well guts you and your entire mech. So no ACs don't tend to work after ammo explosions... because they tend to be scattered across the country side in tiny pieces with the rest of you, lol.
