I currently find myself in Iraq. I was hoping to be home for this but work is work...
At best I'll have a 1MBps connection. Diablo III lags at times and sometimes cuts out entirely still.
Is it worth buying into this now with this sort of connection or should I wait until I get home?
I'm a big fan of the BT universe....been playing tabletop since 1988....please advise...and DON'T give me the usual answers that have been going out of "Yeah it's worth it!" I KNOW it would be worth it...I want to know if it would be PLAYABLE and ENJOYABLE from here with what I have to work with.

Yeah, I was there last year...they like to move me around..whaddaya know?
I figured that was the case for there - I've asked around but it would be nice to hear about this from someone who KNOWS..like the mods, staff, or someone in beta (if they've tested over a slower than US speed connection.
Thanks for the affirmation on my guess....but maybe there's hope...
Are there any servers for this game in Europe? There are possibilities for a decent connection to there for me...
I know there's a few gamers here - and I knew of a number of gamers when I was there. Is that still the case? I'm pushing this because I'm hoping for a long-term solution to this problem.

When I was in Iraq we split like a 10 man satellite between 40 of us and online gaming was pretty much an impossibility. I would say my experience playing games from country was totally not "worth it" or "enjoyable". Like 8000 ping.

I'm in the same boat, I should be home before the month is out though. This trip is drawing to a close and I can't wait to get back home.

Yeah well...I have a LONG time left to go...
Guess it's Tactics for me to get my fill unless I find enough guys to go old school and break out the dice.

On Wednesday nights we had game nights in the CHU - ran a Mechwarrior 2nd edition campaign for a bunch of players new to Battletech that put them smack dab in the middle of the Clan invasion. We used Megamek to run the battles and it was a lot of fun.

If you have plans to buy a pack when you get home, there is no reason why you can't go ahead and buy it now. It's not like you HAVE to DL the game right away, and it supports PGI for what they are doing.
Personally, I haven't played on any connection slower than my 3000/768 DSL.

I know that feeling. I didn't even try to play an online game when I was in Afghanistan in 2009....mostly cuz one of the other guys was playing WoW, and was sucking up all the bandwidth, and everyone was ready to kill him lol.
