Solaris is this planet where people fight for money and the title of champion in a ffa.

The question is would you want it or not.

FEB 05 2012: IT IS BACK ONLINE WITH A NEW POLL.

Not if it detracted from the developers' attention to detail in other areas, maybe added in a patch after launch.

Solaris VII style Championships?

Hell yes, a million times yes! Imagine all the extra dimensions it would add to the game. Allow ranking and competitive ladders for FFA, 1v1, 2v2, full team or oddball style match ups. Also, with the C-Bill economy, it would be a great way to gamble on Merc Units, skilled Warriors or yourself (and vice versa a great money sink as well).

Edit: And for non-ranked competitive It would allow for a "instant action" style play that wouldn't be available for many of us missing out on the lack of single player. "Just want to play a few leisure games?" Here is the perfect solution.

Simply yes!
Bcs it should not cost that much developing ressources and gives another dimension/niche to the game that has a chance to attract many players.
Its also an oportunity to give players that want to play very specific scenarios with very specific rules a playground.

I think this would add a lot, and be good for the kind of "league" play some people are keen on

Yes, with dueling, team arenas, spectating and gambling. Also melee. Would have to have the first part at least to feel right for me though. It's a big part of the lore and the Mercs games so I would expect to see it in some form eventully.

Agreed, this is a must. Its a Huge part of the BT/MW universe. And as mwhighlander said, it would allow for quick play as well as competitive matches.

oh yes I want this - the chance to fight in areas toher than a city or fields - I so want to fight in the "factory"

you could even take out all the repair issues as this could be simulated fighting so pilots & equipment are not risked - not canon I know but maybe a solution for quick matches without the possible downsides??

This is an absolute yes for many players(including me). However, it has no place for Clan Warriors. We do not agree to such dishonorable combat as the IS Solaris Arenas... However, it should def. be an IS option for many many players.

I just don't want the entire game to turn into nothing but Solaris, like how Warcraft3 Custom matches turned into 99% DoTA games, smothering out every other game mode.

Solaris Championship as regular game mode? No need.

As an anually held tournament for individual players and lances? Yes, why not.
