Gotta have Solaris matches.

I'd like to see a mix up of match types including Team matches (2-4 opposing lances) and all of the variations you can think of: Free for all, capture, defend, race (with weapons of course), etc.

Solaris, to me, is a sideshow of little value to the integral Battletech experience. I prefer no time spent on it before release.

Yes needs solaris for solo comititions and the ability to do major changes to teh environment that doesnt change main game. But it does not need to be in first luanch i would rather wait for solaris the not have a game 3 months earlyer.

Solaris would be a great way to train and learn how to move and fight in a battlemech before going out and dying for your faction.

A SIDESHOW!!! That is a lie. look just Because mech4 merc had there winning too low doesn't mean that you should not care. you can turn into a massive blood battle if done right. but if you want give up the title of champion so easly then ok. let other people fight. but yes it should be later in the game because people will go to it like fly's and not play the main game.

i agree we need solaris in this game. it will allow people to train in different mechs and tweak their load-outs to their preference before they go into territory fights. this will also allow players to keep fighting and playing the game if they die in planet battles or when waiting their turn for assaults.

It would make a good addition to the game but it would probably be something worth adding after MWO has been out for a few months to a year. Just so the developers get some proper feedback from people who have played the game on how it can be used and to add something new to keep interest.

The fact a Solaris VII style gameplay gives the addition to not only allow for a multitude of new game mode otherwise "silly" to have in other areas, it allows for both ranked competitive and the "instant action, outcome doesn't matter, leisure" gameplay that players new to Battletech / MechWarrior will need to hone their skills to compete with veterans of the franchise.

I don't see a genuinely good reason other than time constraint to not include it. It is a huge part of lore and the game and personally I find to be one of the best parts of the Battletech universe.

No no, it was indeed a sideshow. That's what made it great though, entire campaigns etc. I want spectating, crowds, titles, tounements, the works though if it's there. Not just exhibition games. I mean Solaris was such a big sideshow that you should be able to spend ALL of your time there and never venture into the galixie and still have fun. So I'd love to see it, if they can make it fun.

Technically we have a decade before he retires or something like that I thought it was supposed to be.

So, the ownership of planets was decided on Solaris, right?

No?

That's why it's a sideshow.

I loved those Solaris matches. People could have a place where they could upload replays and it be like a subsitute for television! :D

And Ducan Fisher...man, I loved that guy. I still play matches just to hear his remarks and commentary.

Solaris is meant for entertainment and training. Not for deciding the fates of Houses and all that stuff. If they implemented it into the game, it would be just for FUN. Not for deciding who wins wars and all that crap.

Seeing as how I shoutcast in TF2, I can't wait to do the same (if there is a way to do so) in MW, and I think that Solaris would be an amazing venue for it (especially given that in MW4:Mercs there was an announcer).

Gotta love that blood-sport feeling of the whole ordeal.

i personally love the idea of having solaris in-game so i voted yes. As for when, I voted for the next major update. My reasoning is that the devs are probably going to want to focus on the faction war and planetary control aspect of the game as well as balancing mechs and gameplay the moment the game releases. Solaris feels like one of those major content updates that we would all anticipate and get along with a new wave of mechs and/or weapons and/or modules. Although it could still be possible to see it at launch instead, which would of course, be awesome.
