Hayden, is there anyway we can encourage you/allow you/tempt you into using our creations as inspiration for in game "paint jobs". I get that our use of high resoultion/detail textures wouldnt be an option, but I assume there are less resource intensive ways of putting someof out ideas to use.

Regardless, I personally give you the nod to use any of my submitted creations in game...if that even matters or is even possible.

I am really the wrong guy to ask. There are a lot of things to be taken into account, not the least of which are legal considerations, as well as questions of general art direction. This is a fine thread, and I always enjoy seeing what people work on, but I'm not in any kind of decision-making position with PGI.

I don't want to string you along, or create any kind of false hope, so I am going to say "no."

That said, I appreciate your willingness to contribute, and encourage you and others to continue to do so on this and our other threads. I personally greatly enjoy the various pieces seen here, and check in pretty often to see what people have been up to.

Is it out of line to ask what is your capacity within the development? :)

It is not! I'm a Texture Artist, which is mainly a production position. Right now my main job is designing generic skin patterns such as Dazzle, Block, Woodland, and several others that are forthcoming (these were designed back in October when I first hired on). I then use a program called Mudbox to "paint" those textures on various 'mechs. It's almost like painting a miniature in a 3D work space. I also do some of the hero 'mech work. I designed the skin for the Ilya Muromets as well as a forthcoming hero 'mech. Alex "Flying Debris" Iglesias also does some texturing work, including the Yen-Lo-Wang and the Phranken set of skins.

The big decisions for what to include and what to use are made by other people , the art director, the creative director, etc. Since I haven't moved up to Canada yet (still working remotely from the US) I am not that close to the decision making process, and a lot of the decision making stuff associated with PGI.

Anyway, I obviously can't talk too much about what is to come, but as we get closer to community warfare and the implementation of factions... you can probably guess what kind of skins I'll be working on then :P

Truth to be said, 2 hero mechs. If you look into forums... let's just say someone saw it on the hero mech page... but without pictures. :P

Feel like such a scrub with photoshop.

Been playing around for a couple months on my own.

Stalker is too bright, not my favorite but I did it as a joke paint job for a pretend hero mech.

I dont know why I find the Storm Trooper look so appealling. Its the only look that looks good on every mech. That being said, I cant justify the cost or the generic look of a powdered donut mech to actuallt run one in game.

heh, its is appealing, actually my 4x phract in-game is urban white :)

I did though try and break up the white a bit with some pin-striping and little spots of black here and there

I needed to make this one in honor of Hayden, this thread would not be here if not for him !!

So being that, I went with a themed catapult for the St. Ives Compact. I was unsure about the colors so I just used roughly the ones off the compacts insignia. Yes that is a lightning scheme on the LRM rack... it is a Thunderstroke after all

Hope you like it Hayden
(if there is anything you want me to add / change just let me know and i'll see what I can do !!
