your works are so impressive!
even though untalented, i wanted to repaint a concept myself...tried gimp...but i soon realised i'm totally lost with it(maybe because i'm used to paint.net...but that does not feature soft light or an alpha mask similar to gimp/photoshop)
i don't know if is okay to ask - and please pardon me if it isn't - but has someone of you the time to do a small repaint for me?
i would love to get a repaint of Dagger6T6' awesome "doors-down" catapult-mod
the thing i tried myself to do was remove all of the insignias and paint it in a green like the cat-k2 on the left hand side of the forum has...maybe with some brown nuances
i even have the catapult already cut out and saved as .png but i was not sure if it is correct to upload it to imgur (because of copyrights etc)
if i should upload it, please tell me
or does someone know a tutorial for paint.net how i could repaint it myself?
i've downloaded an alpha-mask plugin...even tried the psd plugin to open the teamplates on page 1...
but my results are all absolutely lousy ... especially when i try to "stamp-away" the insignias
thank you a thousand times in advance and thanks for this thread!
you guys spark ones' fantasy of what might not be possible if free-painting would be availble in game
and i apologize for my stutter english

there's a thread in the fan art section i think covering the repainting via GIMP...i've installed gimp and tried to follow the steps, but i don't know what i'm doing wrong...in the end it totally looks different than it oughta should
when i do it, it looks more like i finger painted stuff, instead of preserving the underlying texture of the gorgeous concept art...
that's why i'm asking for help
edit: i finally got it to work that i get a "grey" mech in GIMP
but there are two problems that remain for me: how do i merge the layers, so that i get a picture out of it? because if i try to merge down ("paint layer" to "white multi" to "white soft light" to "original") i inly get a plain white image with the few colors i have added before
how do i save the painted mech?
and the second problem is: how do i remove the insignias that are already on the catapult concept art?
cheers

The colorscheme of dark and bright green comes from the colors used by the monitors many of us used to play the text based realtime Battletech MUSEs and MUXes on back in the mid 90's with a dark green background and bright green letters (see my .sig image for an example of how it looked).
First there's the Atlas. You always have to start with an Atlas. I think it's the law.
Next up was an Awesome, this one piloted by "Irish" O'Donovan.
And then, a classic ARC-2R Archer which I'm gonna pretend is in the game until it arrives or the heat-death of the universe, whichever comes first. Heck, I turned my AWS-8T into an Archer-substitute just because I love this mech so much, so this is how it looks in my head when I take it out. So here's my baby, "Raindrops".

Alright, still doing my humble part in order to bring this thread to 200 pages and get PGI and IGP to publish a Facebook announcement on it.
After trying once and not publishing it because it was an utter failure, especially after succeeding in redoing their insignia, I finally decided to retry this one from scratch, and gave a shot at ripping apart some of the gray colored areas. Then added the red eye and a few teeth. Going for fearsome here...

A Marik colour theme... somehow I just liked the combination of the Standard Marik military:
I wanted something a bit more tundra/frozen city scheme and ended up with:
However the camo scheme sunk too much into my final graphic that a lightening up of the scheme produced this:
End result of my little project of the week is:
PS: This was my first opportunity doing something on these lines, so gave me a chance to learn both camo painting and gimp...and I thought, why put in so much effort if I don't show it off abit! xD
Still love the idea's, and work you fella's do!
