Vector, love your Atlas. Camouflage art has kind of a manga coloring feel to it which fits well with the concept style from Piranha Games. Nice!

I like the "salute" that's a nice touch hehe

It took me a second to see it, then I lol'd.

You guys sure are making some slick propaganda... I need to hire a Minister of Information I think.

Amazing work everyone, this is my favorite thread on the whole forum :)

I'm trying my hand at repainting some concept art. My skills are novice, and I'm using GIMP, but this thread has inspired me to work to get better.

That's excellent BlueDog. It's always cool to see somebody evolve before our eyes - and we do have a few months before the game is launched. Besides, you can really surprise yourself when inspired. Have a go at it and please share.

Thanks for the words of encouragement. This was my first attempt at repainting Alex's Atlas.

Please let me explain a bit. I'm a member of a game guild that got it's start back in the 90's with MPBT, UO, DAOC, and some other games. Our intent is to recreate our old BT unit, the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards in MWO, a merc unit lead by a few surviving members of the SLDF Royal Black Watch.

The problem with this piece is that I couldn't figure out how to recreate our tartan, so I drew it by hand, and the colors came out way too bright and stark. Again, I'm a novice at this, so any constructive advice would be welcome.

Have you tried using the templates I put up? That could help some of the trouble you've been encountering. As an aside, so far so good!

Thanks Hayden. Where are the templates at? I got the tutorial you posted way back on page 6 or 9 of this thread, that's what I've been working with so far.

I think it's near the bottom, #319 maybe? I'll get one for the catapult up sometime this month, too.

BlueDog Try going over the Tartan with a black brush set to 20% opacity i noticed this tones color down nicely. if that doesn't work adjust the opacity of the brush.

I to am a novice so this might not work but it was an idea i had.

Thank you for posting that link, again, Hayden. I can't wait to see the Catapult, buddy. I want to do that one up and put it on our front page as a background element.

I challenge someone to make a Saint's Row repaint for these mechs (Catapult as Saints, Jenner as Deckers, Atlas as Brotherhood, Hunchback as Luchadores and Dragon as Ronin). :D

P.S. Or maybe a Saints repaint for all of them except Jenner and Dragon + those mentioned up. ;)

What's this? An Atlas Atlas Hunter? This improbable oddity is named 'The Cannibal'. I wanted to have a try at the 'real' concept art. Not as easy as it sounds even though the template is remarkably well done. Last sentence = all in the honor of Hayden and all of you who tried it... Aesthetics all depend on your choice of accent areas and choosing the right tints for each color is tricky. Anyway, had fun here. May do more.

Looks great!

Here's hoping we get a new mech today, feels like forever since I did any repainting.
