For when you've been working up a hard earned thirst not dying in the scorching sand of some crapworld: SCR-VB.

Obscure faction. Ten nerd points if you don't have to look it up.

It sounds familiar but I don't know where from.

My first thought was even guessing the name... until I saw it written on the bottom of your art Posted Image

Hey Max, its generally a good idea to credit where the pieces of artwork came from as a courtesy. The torso is from one of my drawings and i dont mind too much but the other artists might...

Yes you are correct Alan, obviously my mistake in my rush to get my pics up to show. I love your work and wouldn't want to take anything away from your art.
My apologies for leaving that out, I get on a roll and try to post quickly.
I did try to find out who the artist was that did the other parts I used but I couldn't find them, if anyone knows, I will gladly edit my post to reflect that. Again my apologies and I will correct my earlier post.

New Dervish design? I pieced it together from other drawings. The main body is from a sketch by Alan Blackwell, aka Shineypants, I don't know who the other artist is who did the arms and legs but if anyone knows, I will be sure to credit them here.

head feels all wrong, and I'd love to see a trend getting back to the laser being on the side of the paddle as it was in "Loose's original.

Posted Image
only two openings on the front , both with warheads clearly marked.

His line art style was merry hell for people to sometimes get perspective from though, so the focal lens was mistaken by the 3050 artist as being a flat "do-hickey" on the side, despite it being the box (you can see the lump for it on the outside of the right arm) and lens of the laser. It's one of a few accidental 3D illusions he created. But yes, that is the location of the medium laser.

The legs are pretty good but the head and upper torso just seem very off to me. Not a bad looking design, it just doesn't scream "Dervish". Does make me think I need to finish my old rough though.

Actually..... "fix" the forearms, and remove that odd Urine Collection cup from the crotch, and that original you took the legs from id a pretty fantastic piece. Not taking anything away from Alan, but this just says "Dervish" and would be what I would hope Alex uses as a starting point should we ever see one in MWO (doubtful now that the time shift has occurred)

the sensor probe is of course an add on, but makes sense... I will say, the elbow joint is also a bit nonsensical, though it looks pretty cool.

3-4 tweaks (shortening the front of the arms, removing the piss cup, putting hte lasers one the outside of the paddles) and I'd call it a pretty definitive example. Even as it, TBH, it's the best example I've ever seen.

BTW, the Teacher sculpted this model of that Dervish.

A little too smooth and such, IMO. I like the blockiness of Loose's work in the 3025 TRO, and do feel that too much of the updated artwork for various mechs loose a much of the feel that drew me to Battletech to begin with all those many moons ago. (30 years, actually)

Jjm I really like the way you did the ATM/12's on that, it has a nice look and feel.

well, almost embarrassing compared to the stuff jjm1, shinypants and others been posting, but here is a rough of the Dervish, taking the design elements of the sleeky and shiny version, and putting them to the scale and proportions of the old TRO image.

No. Laser headlights.

They could be used to assist ground forces, turn the mech into a light pole at base camp or just intimidate the enemy. You know, normal everyday headlight things.

Why do you have them blocking heat vents? Posted Image

Well. That's where heavy ballistics fit on the MCII and lots of mechs fit lasers where vents are.

I have another project I'm saving laser heatsinks for. Its a Jade Falcon mech (that isn't a Night Gyr) and they will definitely be green lights.

Sometimes a blue light is just blue light. Sorry :P

I was also planning on having LHS as a mechlab upgrade option rather than a quirk when I do the build mockup.

OMG, please do a Night Gyr with laser lights looking like Samus armor in Metroid.

I'll add it to the requests list. If I live long enough to get to it. :)
