The plural of fungus isn't fungui, it's fungi. So shouldn't it be atli?

In Latin and Ancient Greek there are 5 common ways that nouns are declined. The inflection of Atlas, a noun of the third declension, is as follows:

accusative	Ātlantem	Ātlantēs
ablative	Ātlante	Ātlantibus

As you can clearly see, the plural of Atlas is Atlantes. Whoever thought the plural of Atlas was Atlai is obviously ignorant of how Latin works. FYI, the reason the plural of fungus is fungi is because it's of the 2nd declension, which has a different pattern to the inflection of words.

Now that you have finally encountered someone who knows how to consult a Latin Grammar to look up information, this question should be resolved.

N.B. The plural of Atlas in English is Atlases.

I vote for bad english!! I was en English major many moons ago, and all I learned was how badly I butcher the language.
