What do you mean, "fix the poll"? It's perfect already. All plausible options accounted for.

I mean, based upon my signature I obviously agree with you

However we need credibility man!

...I don't believe it. When you mentioned your signature I was like "Oh, I'd better go see his signature!" and went back to the last page to see the post I quoted in the first place, so I could see your signature.

As for credibility man: Yes. But verily, it is not a light burden!

Not to be a spoilsport, but the first time I came across the debate was http://mwomercs.com/...atlas-two-atli/ from someone advocating "Atli" under SRS BSNS. I think there were one or two others, but this one holds the length record (I believe)

This would be the original Atlai (correct spelling) "SRS BZNZ" (sarcasm) thread covering the debate as a public poll.

Seriously, this thread is STILL alive?

Then I'm gonna say this:

Atlas is a proper name.
Nicholas is a proper name.
You don't address more than one Nicholas as Nicholii, Nicholi, Nicholai, or any other form of the sort, do you?

Ok... Maybe we have been too hard on the appropriatness of Atl-ai. Consider "altai". A perfectly correct archaic greek form to denote many male jump athletes, (not specifying the long or high jump though). But is Atlas a normal nown to deserve such a generic plural?

On the other hand how whould a report on A-1 "Abramses" descending on Bagdad sound? I would prefer to stick with plain Atlas for plural in this case. After all it's the meaning represented by the name "Atlas" that is important to mech drivers universally.

(Sorry to maybe contributing to prolong this thread further, but if ur visiting back again you r maybe just the sort of mazochist to enjoy it?;))

There's a simple and obvious difference between Abrams and Atlas and you know this without even thinking about it if you're a native English speaker - one has a consonant before the ess, the other ends in a nice easy schwa-plus-ess sound that is one of the most common in English and pefectly easy for native speakers to just double.

No, it's actually Atlases or Atlantes. We covered this perhaps one page in. *sigh*

Interesting, I remember the original vote . . it read Atali then Atlases, then when Atali lost changed to Atali / Atali, now it seems to be Atlases / Atali and the vote along with the previous vote has been reversed.

OP, you do realise that when you start to play MW:O you can't swap sides mid match because yours is losing right? :(

I redacted my vote when the choice was taken away, so now the choice have been given to us again, I vote Atlases.

I'll be back in a few days when Op rigs the vote again ;)

The plural is the same! One atlas, two atlas, a lance of atlas. Why has no one considered this?
Bipartisan systems are broken! Fight the system! The man is giving you the illusion of choice, but Atlas is the only true alternative!

Unless people are willing to admit that more than one Thomas would be called Thomai, I say stop trying to pluralize a name like that. Also, just to keep the butchered name moving, I'd like to request an Atlae option. That way when an group Atlases melts your face its less demeaning since you just got Atlae'd.

Project Dark Fox (Team): 4 ATL to the right, RTB RTB

Why bother when you can use shorthand in the text comms?

EDIT: I can't use HTML code, oops.

We're Lyrans; we'd never be so uncouth as to not use a mech's proper name and full designation.

I just say "Atlas" regardless of Atlases, Atlai, Atali or "Atlantes", simply because an Atlas is an Atlas. They're big enough, focus on one at a time. Or do like Dr. Suess. "One Atlas, Two Atlas, Red Atlas, Blue Atlas..."

The Word of Atlai was a splinter faction of MW:O players that was created out of a conservative backlash against the removal of MWO's mystical and religious aspects (Hula girls).

The Atlai-ists initially took refuge in the General Forums, but were able to move most of their operations to Closed BETA after they conquered it in 3049.

They perpetrated the Great Poll of Schism-ing, which ended with the defeat of the Atlasees in the fall of 3049 and the reintegration of the remaining Atlai-ists back into MW:O (because now they owned it).

Their fear was great, their loss terrible.

Go Team Atlai!
