Hello! I played a little bit of the Mechwarrior game on my Sega when I was a kid, seemed pretty cool. But I'm sure a lot has changed sense then, and as it was very long ago, I would like to know whats up.

Is combat skill based? Entirely?
Does it compare to Armored Core games? (No flaming please, just objective mechanical comparisons)
Is it fast paced, where people die seemingly instantly, or is there an actual health pool to fall back on?

I heard of different control schemes, one that is a simulation and another that's not. Is playing simulation something of preference or does it give an advantage if your good at it? (I'm asking for a president set with older games here, as I don't think there is enough information on this new one yet to tell for sure. If i'm wrong please tell me!)

Hula Girls.

I may add more later, if anyone has anything they find important or unexpected that I may need to know about feel free to speak your mind!

Thank You.

First things first, we don't even have an alpha of the game yet, so no one knows the specifics of its play. If you'd like, you can play MW4 for free to see how it plays, but there is no guarantee they will be remotely similar. Past games have been entirely skill based, with somewhat slower game play then the AC series, although that might be my own personal preference for a proper Scout Mech (Read as: Atlas). In MW4, you die in two or three alpha strikes from most competitive weapon load outs. Hopefully, this game isn't quite so lethal.

Mechwarrior is basically a strategic tactical combat sim in which 9 times out of 10 if your paying attention you will find your enemy and have time to think out a plan before the combat begins, Each action you do in the mech is methodical, Action is very much present but, it's the initial tension, Also from Battletech on the SEGA you don't have that one health bar, each individual section is armored Head, Torsos(3 sections) arms and legs with back armor for the torsos.

While the customization in the weapons aspect of AC does compare the Franken Mech term which is swapping your legs for treads doesn't happen in Mechwarrior weapons/Equipment only and to an extent engines and armor and jumpjets.

Simply put for describing how the action is, like comparing Need for Speed to Forza both are racing games but, one rewards skill while the other rewards quick reflexes.

Also to further your question about skill base is yes for the most part how well your able to track a mech to obtain missile lock or lead with a gauss rifle or Autocannon determines if you live or if you die no to mention the heat gauge. There is A LOT to it. Though instead of trying to explain it to you, Head over to Mektek and Download the MTX software they have Mech 4 Mercs on there free of charge. Now I know this is MW:O but, other than trying to talk you to death about it go check it out and play it to get a feel or at least an idea of what to expect.

Leaving original post but, blast it sporky you beat me to it.

If MWO is going to be anything at all like the previous MechWarriors, then you can expect walking humanoid, armored, weaponized stuff that shoots big stuff and BLOWS **** UP!!!!!
