Like this:
That track in-game gives so much tension you damn near crap your pants when it starts.
Another awesome Twilight Princess track with some heavier industrial/techno style stuff is the Twili track:
Using combinations of the heavy synth beats with industrial sounds can produce extremely tense combat tracks.
In fact, try playing both of those tracks at once over each other. If you were to take away that "bwoooh" from the Twili track, then the heavy beats combine pretty well.

You guys have given me a TON of great suggestions, and I tried to incorporate as many of them as I could. Thanks so much for all of the ideas!
This is still a work in progress, mind you - so don't be afraid to be honest.
(note - I recommend you up the quality setting. Original file is 1411kbps)

but.
Is it just me, or does it feel a bit...sluggish, maybe more tempo?
It certainly feels powerful and massive, but still a bit sluggish.

The pipes and drums are the oldest war instruments other than trumpets. They should have a place of musical and martial honor.
You know it's true.

as a theme song used on the main screen and mechlab it would really start to grate on my nerves as i ussually dont like really noticable in your face music looping constanly in my ear. "epic" or "hard" themes work, but not if you have to listen to them constantly
but for referance here are a couple themes that I like, on soft one hard.
C&C tiberian sun
BF1942
now as a loading song or combat track i definatly like

You know what you need to "speed" that up?
Cymbals, snare drums (you used them at the beginning, but then cut them during the middle. Instead, trying tightening them up during the tension and speeding them up to give some background to that guitar), and some trumpets. The early section is okay, but when its attempting to build tension with the guitar-like part it just falls flat.
Edit: Oh, at about :45, when the second guitar joins in to help raise the tension, perhaps you could use violins or trumpets there, which have much fuller sound. You can see this a lot in the Mechwarrior 2 Umber Wall and Silent Thunder (although there Hwang uses cellos). Strings make for really good crescendos.

Great work so far. I think the military march / war drum aspect really helps to build tension and get the blood pumping. It also fits the 'huge robotic war machine' theme very well; the real question is what happens when you 'drop the hammer'? More heavy guitar riffs? Even more drum goodness? In any case it seems like it is supposed to pick up the pace, so I'm eager to hear more of it.

You said it Tazz oo! I hooked up my old computer that still plays MW2 just to hear some of these old tracks on those missions. Not sure if they are overall theme worthy but they definately added a certain vibe while hunting for mechs on a mission. Especially Umber Wall! Kinda gives you this lonely me against the world kinda feeling.
