This is assuming you can play as a member of one of the Clans.

They have already confirmed you can and that they will do their best to have a reward system for those who follow Clan Honor ;)

For my thoughts on this matter, I will use Clan Wolf as an example.

Posted Image

As you can see from the pic there are 41 Bloodnames that can be attained. Since each Bloodname can have 25 holders at any one time, 41x25 = 1025.

That is a LOT of people. My suggestion would be to create a specific set of bloodlines & let each player choose one upon entry.

Mark each Bloodname to the count of 25:

Alberty-Hall | Ch`in-Hall | Calvert-Hall
Carns-Hall | DeVega-Hall | Cuffe-Hall
Dannvers-Hall | Jennings-Hall | Feng-Hall
Hoskins-Hall | Levy-Hall | Kisiel-Hall
Lager-Hall | Moran-Hall | McKibben-Hall
Mehta-Hall | Sradac-Hall | Robbin-Hall
Saline-Hall | Taylor-Hall | Shaw-Hall
Sherbow-Hall | Tutuola-Hall | Stims-Hall
Waters-Hall

So if 25 people fancied the Hall Bloodname, those are their options & since nobody is going to "die", the Bloodheritages remain intact. Of course if you really wanted to follow the lore, the first person to win a specific Bloodname becomes the BloodHouse Leader.

So if you do not have a Bloodname as yet, you can identify yourself by saying something like, "I am Robert of the Sherbow-Hall Bloodline." (this will take care of the multiple name problem for a long time)

This has lots of potential as each person is from a distinct Bloodline & can choose to expand on his/her character however they like. They can (if they are into RP) go into the backstory of their progenitor etc.

It can add drama as in there are two players that know the lore well & let us say (THIS IS AN EXAMPLE) they discovered that Chen Waters was a really good friend of the Founder & both of them want that Bloodline they can fight for it, a sort of preTrial of Bloodright if you will.

Just my thoughts.

No no no, not that you PAY for a bloodname, but that it is premium content only available to P2P. People seem to forget that the game will be including persistent world elements, many of which are probably going to be premium only content.

Also, I am not sure if that is correct Jaroth. http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Clan_Wolf#Bloodnames.
C
lan wolf only has 13 exclusive bloodnames. The rest would be between multiple clans: http://www.sarna.net...t_of_Bloodnames

LAWL. You must not have ever read any of my posts to quote Sarna at me. If you read any of the books you would know that each Clan began with 40 warriors hence 40 Bloodnames. Clan Wolf is an aberration because of the Kerenskys & Winsons. The pic shown in my post is from Operation Klondike, an OFFICIAL sourcebook. If you want to go really deep you can download this spreasheet done by a BT fan whose name I never knew (kudos to you sir/madam if you are reading this) who took the time to sort out EVERY single Bloodname & Labname listed from all OFFICIAL source materials whether they be sourcebooks or novels by the Bloodname/Labname, the original clan that produced them, any other clans that used them, the phenotype if applicable, the source material, the page from said source material & any comments to explain anything questionable.

http://www.4shared.c...Lab_Names_.html

So for the record I am QUITE SURE it is correct. Also I never said anything about paying for a Bloodname.

I use Sarna to wipe my ***.

We have a good few months of Jumpship/Warship travel between the Kerensky Cluster and the Coreward part of the Sphere?

Hm. Didn't expect an actual, reasonable answer. Nuts.

I stand corrected Jaroth. And yes, I have read many of the books. But it has been at least 8 years or so since I really delved into the Battletech universe lore.

And the pay for bloodname comment was not directed at you, but at a post prior to yours.

I see. You may want to preface such comments with a

@<name of person you are directing your post at>

before you give your reply, or quote the person.

Using partial quotes can help make it clear who or what one is responding to. Just a quick off topic tip.

I doubt anyone will be able to play Clan or have full access to Clan tech, for a long while, that is even if the Clans become a playable faction.

yet again, the developers have already confirmed it is in their plans to introduce the clans. Going from their updates and podcasts, this is a fresh institution of the battletech universe, and things will take time to wind up.

In either case, no merc band or house will contain me or my kinsmen. I know where my loyalties lie stravags. Regardless of my rede to uphold Kerensky's promise, there will be blood shed. May the war be brought upon us and the fight to ensue glorious. We anxiously await our trials and tribulations by fire and steel.

Good luck to you all in the coming wars of succession. Your future is merely beginning.

May us true clanners wait for our rite to begin, quiaff?

Jaroth has the right idea when it comes to Bloodnames. Although instead of the first person who wins the bloodname (as the bloodhouse leader is the usually the oldest living person with the bloodname)

I love the idea of picking your geneparents bloodname before you start the game, yes a lot of people will be like *** is this? But they qare people who probably will only be playing for a few weeks anyways  It gives a sense of RP, LORE and sets it up for bloodnames. I would even be alright to let slide the fact the potential Bloodhouse is the 'mother gene'. They can try for either bloodhouse, but may only take one bloodname. DEVs could in the future get creative and have new sibkos have two bloodnames with information of their Player based geneparents. Has no effect on gameplay... but this is now a bit of rambling of odd ideas in the paragraph.

Jaroth that Bloodname/Labname is neat... but severely needs to be updated with Operation Klondikes resources.

hehehe they have W T F when strung together as a 'vulgar' workd... interesting, I did not think acronyms were considered offensive.

I heard them say the Clans would be included--I did not hear them say you could play as a Clanner.

They have released no Clan 'Mechs, no Clan forum avatars, nothing on Clan rules of play (House, Mercenary, and Lone Wolf has been it), and nothing to indicate allegiance to or participation in a Clan of any sort.

Although it is months until the predetermined release, I'd think they'd have said something more substantial, since the projected release coincides with the Clan invasion.

If anybody can find a quote or something else definitive stating otherwise, I would gladly stand corrected, but most of it seems to be mere assumption.

Clans invade 3050, in 3049 they are more just setting up supply lines in the Periphery.

They have roughly 6 months after Launch before they really need to start to let us know about the Clans. Operation Revival starts March 3050.

They have stated in a podcast, non NGNG three moon or something. That the Clans will be playable and that they will be rewarded for using Clan Honor, Zellbrigen.

Anyone wishing to be clan should only start off with first names and no surnames. They need to pick a bloodline when they join a Clan, and when bloodnames become available compete for them in trials. No bloodnames should be allowed to be "carried over" from previous incarnation of Mechwarrior/Btech. This is a different animal. In similar fashion for Spheroids, no ranks should be carried over from other incarnation. They should be earned.

In game they will not. Only currently existing Units with a command structure, the player side rank will remain, out of game I still will be Taylim Tseng until I earn my rightful Bloodname.

Well since there will not be an oldest person at the time of launch, the first person to win a particular Bloodname will become the oldest person with so in a manner of speaking.

I lthought so too. It adds a LOT of RP elements.

Yeah it is extensive but it does need updating. I salute whoever did it because I do not think I have the patience to undertake a task such as that. They were working with the info they had at the time. Damn fine work though.
