I'm interested to know how a mech with a max weight limit, and jump jets designed to support that weight, can be overloaded.
The Catapult is a 65 ton mech; its jump jets are designed to lift and move a 65 ton machine. Overloading on ammo? That sounds like the weight limit was increased beyond what the original thrust to weight ratio was designed to handle. Clarify?

Maybe there's some sort of ammo reload system in place on some maps that you can use to reload your ammo (instead of running dry and then becoming useless), and you can overload on ammo (on purpose, if you want to be able to stay in the field longer)?

It's Paul , he probably thought they were all Lights that were overloaded to 65 tons .

Bravely Sir Omid Ran Away
Bravely Ran Away, Away
When Danger Reared its Ugly Head,
He Bravely Turned His Tail and Fled.
Yes, brave Sir Omid turned about,
And gallantly he chickened out.
Bravely taking to his feet
He beat a very brave retreat,
Bravest of the brave, Sir Omid!

I'm guessing what Paul meant was that, prior to today's gameplay session, Jump Jets cost tonnage/space but didn't actually work in the game and so they stripped them out for extra ammo. But now that it's in, they obviously couldn't use it for this session.

was wondering about this myself..how can you overload on ammo when its designed to take a certain amount of ammo and not more..and the jets are designed for that weigt limit

Either one makes sense for a videogame. In one case a Catapult can pump out 65 tons of thrust which is enough to hover a 65 ton Mech, but not enough to lift off; that would reward the player who goes into battle lean and mean. The other case is an example of how going slightly over a chassis's weight limit causes severe deleterious effects; while going from lightly loaded to fully loaded should slow you down somewhat, going just a hair over that weight limit should impose artificially-steep performance cuts designed for game balancing purposes.
I would like to see an overload option available, along with bright red warnings about how you're over your weight limit and your Mech's performance will be very compromised... slower top speed, rotational movement, weapons convergence, reduced heat sink efficiency, jump jets inoperative, the lot.

You can also underload a truck, it's more maneuverable then... So long as there are sensible concequences to any benefits, and the benefits are limited, it seems like a good thing.
