How can parts of what they test not built for human consumption? They posted throughout this thread vague maybe, but they say this is a working game. PLAY TESTED. I, as I believe, many others in this community, want to see game footage, otherwise I say vaporware.
Reread. I said PUBLIC consumption, not human. Meaning the test build is not in a state where it looks its prettiest. They do not want to release screenshots that don't do the game justice. Releasing early screenshots, even with disclaimers, could easily turn off many casual people who think "Man that game looks horrible"
Yep, its PLAY TESTED. Which means what, in your mind exactly? A finished game?
Yep. You're right. It's vaporware. Close the thread.

I know the 2009 trailer was from a different engine. Why release that quickly, and not the current game they say they playtested two weeks ago?
All assets in place from what they say, play test was two weeks ago.
Also, the main point of the trailer was to try and get them a delveloper for what was going to be Mechwarrior 5.
Really should have talked to Russ at that GenCon, he was sitting two rows away in the BT Q and A.

All this talk as to about how come they were that far along, and it has taken them this long to finish, or the original was a different game or on a different engine I believe is off base. I HIGHLY doubt the trailer was in game footage and nothing more than a CGI trailer of what they envisioned the game to be, nothing more.
I say that because :
1) They have SHOWN the storyboards for a scripted CGI scene
2) They have even shown the initial CGI scene
3) Since its CGI anyone could place "IN GAME FOOTAGE" on it.. as IGN / Machinma / etc.. apparently did.
4) Because many of the official trailers did NOT have "IN GAME FOOTAGE" on them :
5) If it were "IN GAME FOOTAGE" it wouldn't have a voice track with actors.
Now I am not hating on PGI, I am sure PGI is doing a great job, and even if the 2009 trailer was simply a CGI trailer, it was fantastic (although not awesome.. because as we all know in the BT/MW world only this is AWESOME).
That said, as detailed as the trailer was, I have to say I think it was in reality nothing more than a CGI storyboarded trailer and NOT "In Game Footage" and as far as I can tell through searching the forums.. no one at PGI has said the trailer was or was not "In Game".
So the debate between in 2009 it was this game and now they changed things and it is this game.. are invalid. In 2009 there wasn't a game, only a CGI trailer. A CGI trailer made for demonstration of what they wanted the game to be like to get investors to actually help pay for and distribute the game. Which kind of jibs with what PGI has said (or not said) all along.
I do reserve the right to be wrong..

Apparently I was right and wrong..
The video is CGI, but created with the Unreal 3 game engine so while not "In Game Footage", it was footage from inside the gaming engine.. if that makes sense. Long story short, used the gaming engine with what they had to run a scripted CGI.
Clear as mud..

"That" game and "this" game are now, for all intents and purposes, two different games. What was then is not what is now. PGI has yet to disappoint--they only leave us wanting more. They will release what they want, when they want, as a top quality piece of media. The 2009 video is ancient history--a fun watch, but history--and should not be counted amongst MechWarrior Online's evolving plethora of (future) screenshots, concept art, and (future) videos posted for our perusal.
TL;DR hurry up and wait. They'll post it when they get the notion.
