This is probably already covered but I would like to be able to view and pull up information on my mechs, get progress reports from the field, view maps, and chat/message my comrads, etc. all from my smartphone.

this is critical... I need to be "plugged-in" at all times whether its at work during a meeting or out having dinner with the wife.

There has been talk on RSS feeds I think, that would be accessible via SMRT phones.

If they could throw an innersphere map that updates with gameplay that would be pretty sweet, althought I don't believe you do that via RSS (it's just XML though), my guess is they'd have to build an app for that and they probably don't have the time to do it pre-launch.

But it would be nice to access at least the Mech Hanger and play around with configurations while stuck at work.

yeah this would rock
getting updates to my phone that planet X is under attack or Mech A has finished its repairs and Mech Z has started its configuration change
combine that with ISN updates and a map of the IS
that could probably be done by anyone

but if PGI made it, they could let us chat with players who are online (friends list) and perhaps even interact with our mech stable or merc unit
unit leader at work.... no problems, he is still bidding on contracts during his pilot downtime

Mod mechs and assign pilot points and maybe shop around using the app.
