Any idea yet what mechs will be available upon release?

But has there been any release on what mechs (besides the obvious Jager, Atlas, Jenner, etc) will be available for release?

We don't know how long Open Beta will last until Launch. Mechs have been added roughly 1 every 3 weeks, so if the open beta is 3 months, then expect about 3 more mechs.

I'm just stumped at the process they're taking. Before, beta was always closed-access, and then they released. So to me, their version of an open beta is their way of saying "we're releasing the game but it's not done yet."
But from what it sounds like, I really hope that there will be more than 3 or 4 mechs per weight level. Or else I will be a disapoint : (

This has all the currently announced Mechs with their default variant loadouts. We're due soon for Mech 16th which will no doubt be an Assault since it is now the smallest class.

My money for the last two thrown in for Open Beta would have to go to the Raven and Cicada. While the Jenner is already in for the 35-ton tier, the Raven is a very different design and would probalby make better use of the EW equiment (I'm assuming this will make it in for launch). The Cicada fills out the role of a heavy scout or fast-striker that aren't represented in the medium weights yet.
That being said, I'd love the Cataphract or Trebuchet to make it in, I think they'd look real nice next to my -C1 Catapult.

This is how free to play games uaually go.
Open beta is still a beta. It's open, anyone can play, but it isn't done yet.
Launch (no date announced) is when the 1.0 version of the game is officially done. We're not even to 1.0 yet, we're still in beta. Even Launch is not done yet because thy will always be adding new stuff. Launch is minimally viable product. The minimum they can get away with calling a complete game.
As a free to play title they will be constantly adding new content. Look at LoL as an example, they have a [redacted] load of playable characters, but they didn't start with that many, they slowly added more and more.
ttl;dr MWO will not launch with every mech they want, they will add more and more content as we go. Open beta is not even launch, it's still a beta

They are both unseen, so not likely (unfortunately)

too bad esoteric and/or rare mechs likely won't see much action, if they ever show up at all. the Executioner was always an interesting Medium. but everyone hates mechs designed to hunt command mechs and kill them, so it tends to be pretty rare, by 3049.

Assault Mech's are 80-100 tons. That should class it as an assault, since it's an assault.
Again, next Mech will most likely be an Assault, and most likely a common FC design. The fact that there aren't any jumping Assaults will also add in. SO:
Victor
Zeus
Banshee
Cyclops (Liao also doesn't have a "token" Assault yet either).

I don't think the Atlas belongs to any specific House but rather is just the "go to" Assault Mech that is used commonly by the rich. 80+ btw is indeed Assault. 60-75 is the Heavy bracket. Also Light = 20-35. Medium = 40-55.
