Really gaudy schemes like the Skye Rangers and Royal Guard use are noted to be parade schemes only. They don't actually go into battle looking like that. If you're gonna do something like that, might as well also paint your rank insignia on your lance leader's machine so they know who to focus fire on.

No Duh, most of them are "parade only". But its a game and having everyone camo'd all the time = not that Battle-techy. Ever see a table top game with all camo mechs on both sides vs one with parade colors?

One of the things I like about the MW games is being able to use environment-specific camo depending on where I play, like they do in canon, because it's quick and easy. Yes, my minis are all painted up in regimental parade schemes on the tabletop, but that's because I don't want to strip the paint off all my minis and redo them every time I decide to use the random scenario table and come up with an arctic map instead of a desert map.

My point is the parade colors are more dynamic and fun to look at. Camo just isn't.
And camo isn't used all the time in canon.

The standard Lyran paint scheme is "Factory Fresh" on the front side and "Patches on Patches" on the back.

A major theme for the House makes sense with more specialized versions for individual groups like the Rangers and others that were mentioned. Personally don't care what color my mech is as long as it matches the lance. Maybe lances get together and find a scheme they like within the overall guidelines of the House.

All of the Mechs are equipped with IFF so they are going to get "tagged" by the system as target or not as soon as they are spotted. I would be tickled to death to find out that you can get a camo bonus for your mech if it is shutdown or at minimal power in a color matching area. As soon as your reactor comes up to power though you are going to get spotted for your power signature in anything but an urban setting. Most forests don't have a use for a reactor generating copious quantities of energy.

The great thing about being Lyran is that you can afford a new paintjob every week...

When reading the books and source material, a popular Lyran paint scheme was Sky Blue (A very light blue almost white) on the upper half of the mech, with a Camoflage scheme (Mottled, Forest, etc.) on the lower half of the mech.

I actually had a full company of mechs painted in this scheme for CBT, Complete with the House Steiner Fist and individual numeric markings on each mech. Sadly, all those Mini's are long gone as all the mini's were left with a friend whom I haven't seen in over 10 years.

...I normally use the Tamar Lions (who are loyal to House Steiner) camo, so (dark)red and black or grey.
Or as well the good old Mechwarrior Vengeance variant. Steiner woodland: Dark/light blue combinations

As an irregular who is not attached to any specific unit, I just stick with a combination of Basic Blue, Titanium White and PC Gamer Black. I also chose camo schemes based on how they look on each individual mech. I believe that this stays with the House Steiner theme.

We are a regular Lyran unit, but we use all red and green. Gentle peer pressure isn't going to change this. :)
But we got your backs anyway.

Dammit Oy, why do you have to get me all worked up by combining two things that I enjoy? Steiner heraldry and Slayer! Now about those decals for my mech PGI....
