Sorry, I may be a bit oversensitive after our...disagreements in the past.

The warfare that the 3rd & 4th Succession Wars, Clan invasion (except for that nasty little Smoke Jaguar City buster, and FedCom Civil War were all largely restrained. I enjoyed the reckless nuke tossing of the Jihad because it was something new, and a show of what was possible. While I enjoy Mech battles as much as the rest of us (otherwise I wouldn't be here) I also like the larger scale warfare that's possible with the technology available in the 31st century.

The thing about nukes that's interesting once you have interstellar battles is that there's no MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction) While everyone still agrees that they're BAD*. (*Not Good at all). You can use them and have a reaonable chance of surviving and or winning. A nuclear war on a single planet is horrific, with many planets, it's just a bigger bomb.
