I was under the impression that most of the people who were eager and excited when the original video for 'Mechwarrior 5' was released were fans of battletech and mechwarrior, not as in two seperate entities, but as a series where you get your mech-jocky fix. When the storm blew over and we got MWO, I thought people were excited to be mech pilots once again. MWLL is a free mod made by people with a love for mech games. I was, again, assuming that people who play such games are enthusiasts for mech games in general. Correct me if I am wrong, of course.
People are just slinging mud without realizing what they are doing. Mech games, on the whole, are a fairly rare bread in the industry today. Instead of encouraging people to play MWLL to support the devs and, by extension, mech games in general, we are bashing it into the ground. A similar thing is coming from the other side of the tracks, and its rather silly from both parties.
Personally, I want both games to be a big success. I miss the fun of stomping around in a battlemech, whether it be in one game or another. This bashing of one game or another is childish and immature.

Sega, at least, actively promoted the rivalry to drum up publicity.
For example:

Did things like advertising "blast processing" as a marketing point (which it eventually turned out meant to program the game efficiently to the hardware... what most others in the industry called "not getting fired from my programming job.")

In the case of MW:O and MW:LL, one is a professional game, and the other is a mod made by volunteers, as far as I know (I haven't checked it out in some time, I never got it to work right on my computer and gave up.) so it's not really even fair to compare them, I'd say.

MW:LL is a more fully fleshed out game, and is a flat out better game than 95 percent of games on the market.
I honestly think that MW:LL is in my list for top 5 games of all time.
Unless you have played it then you have absolutely no idea what your missing.
When you fire weapons in MW:LL you feel like an Earthquake has gone off underneath you.
MW:LL is FREAKEN AMAZING..... And it's just a mod.

How is that so strange?
The guy probably loves both games and as such found it worth buying the legendary.
I bought the legendary myself because I want this game to succeed, yet I also enjoy MWLL.
MWLL is combined arms, MWO are mechs only, so there is something for everyone.

(Try to find coolant flushing on it btw)
Coolant Pods on the Mechs. Please don't preach the wrong information.

And don't say its different
"Virtually a self-contained emergency Coolant Truck, the Coolant Pod contain a reserve of compressed freon which can be flushed directly into the attached 'Mechs coolant system, boosting the effectiveness of each Single Heat Sink by 200% and each Double Heat Sink by 150% for 10 seconds."
Oh and MW:LL is worth every penny you pay for Crysis Wars. Its absolutely brilliant, in its own right. I'm still going to play MW:O cause it has a storyline and its a funded game (and its shinier) - but by little or no means is it better then MW:LL

I am under NDA so I cant compare the two.
What I can say is that MW:LL is the best mech game I have ever played.
They should give the crew that make MW:LL a budget and a game studio and let them make MW:LL Into a full AAA title.
It would most likely be one of the best games ever made.
