Some FPS games cash in on the abuse in FF. One game I know has FF on by default and the only way to avoid getting killed by teammates so that they can get your shiny gun is to get a cash item to prevent your character from getting shot at by friendlies.

That's a terrible idea, what's to stop someone with an assault mech and access to a credit card from turning their drop zone into a one sided free for all?

Friendly fire on, splash damage on, 'Mech explosions causing splash damage on.

Someone is griefing on your team, boot them. If a player gets booted X number of times in X amount of time that account gets a suspension.

This is the somewhat sad truth.

If they could tie this in to the /ignored list that would be awesome. Thought process is still ongoing but basically punish the guy with the most ignores. IE when matchmaking you never get placed with someone you've ignored, but whichever one of you with the most /ignores against them is the one who is put back in the queue to wait.

Basically you have a hidden stat called Ignores. If 10 people have /ignored you, then when you are placed in a match with me say, and you are the only one to have /ignored me, then guess who gets to wait for the next round?? This would work even if we had mutually /ignored each other, as the total number of /ignores would be a decent indicator of how much of a dumbass you are.

On a unrelated note, my / key seems to be acting up all of a sudden ;)

It's been brought up before - but how do you boot someone? Majority vote? Unanimous? What happens if people abstain? Booting would have to be handled really carefully to prevent innocent people from getting kicked from games just because a group of friends want to play solo on a server.

This is a must. This means teams Must work together and if, i don't know, the team gets some dick thinking he's going to be a moron and mess everything up for us he can...disappear. But there has to be reprocussions for it, because you know the trolls are out there waiting...

There absolutely has to be free fire in the game, and people are just going to have to deal with it. One of the most successful online games(Ultima Online) had pkillers and loads of griefers...they got ostrasized and in some egregious cases, banned.

When it comes to griefers, people who deliberately friendly fire for no reason are just the same as: commanders who will order people into there deaths for no reason, people who stand around doing nothing and take up roster space, and people who will think its a solo game and go off and do there own thing EVERY game.

In short, griefers will always be griefers and there will be an endless supply of them.

There are no "servers" per say, just Instances. As to who decides? The "Commander", or he who is designated as such. In my case, we would have a need, an LW would join, TS chat would verify Yes or No and either we still need a LW or not. Not overly complex really.

Yes but what designates a commander? Another vote? The devs haven't been real clear on this - and it seems like all you have to do is pony up money for a commander module and you can give orders. I don't disagree that greifers and others need to be punted. But I encourage caution lest it become abusive. Absolute power corrupts absolutely and I don't want to have to be afraid in every match that if i don't worship the feet of the second coming of napoleon - im going to be booted mid match...

No! No! No! Boot is only available in the queue area. Once an Instance is spawned it is all in, Win or Lose with whomever made the drop. I have seen lag Votes in games but those were rare occurances and everyone got the odd one so a Yes vote often back fired.

MWO, by what little we know will focus on Team play. Now A House's membership should all be on the same page. Same for any Mecr Corp that gets formed. These player already know of or have been brought in to the Team fold.

Greivers are those Solo player who get the oppurtunity to play with a true Team and then **** away a great chance to learn something truely relevant about how the Game is/ should be played. With respect for the other members on a Team.

That is their choice but will get very limited oppurtunites after the first as when they next show up for that same Team, they get Booted. No explanation, no reason, except...they do know why they just got booted...we know this to be true as they rarely try and get back in to that same Team right away again either.

As noted, in a Team environment any FF incidents would be self managed. No need for the Dev to track anything. If any fillers feel the need to shoot team mates then they get one Match and then have to find another empty slot on another Team (forever) and will surely run out of places to go after a while, especially with word of mouth within the community.

Secondary or tertiary accounts matter little as the same ting happens. FF should be ON absolutely. An apology for a FF incident goes along way. It is always best to just don't find yourself having to apologizing to much. lol ;)

NO NO NO, never have players be able to kick other players. Do you really think this would work? Really? You haven't been playing MMOs long (if at all) if so.

WoT's system is fine. Maybe one TKer out of hundereds of battles. They did something right there.

Sorry, if a known Grievers name pops into Slot 4 in the queue, you say we should have to take him with us?

As for my gaming History. Best you just stay away from that sort of talk. MMO's are the worst for that. A group doesn't want a Cleric, and your a Cleric that wants to play? LOL good luck dropping with that group. BOOT!

Friendly Fire is nice and all but what happens when a Clan Wolverine warrior lone wolfs it, and gets stuck with a group from Clan Wolf or Ghost Bear and they decide to finish the Trial of Annihilation?.

Would they then before the game starts have a option to switch sides?

Or better yet half the drop is Clan Wolverine and the other Clan Wolf. I can just imagine the chaos that would be going on inside the dropship before it lands.

Just hope they don't drop with the Snow Ravens. We wouldn't need a reason beyond 'You nuked our genetic repository!'

Friendly Fire should be in the game. It requires more skill, it requires more teamwork and communication, and it requires care.

Especially when you shoot the Boss, just because you want to show him/her you really do "care" ;)

So basically you want the players to be the "cops". That is never a good idea. And yes, you should have to take them with you. The only people that should be able to boot are moderators, or whoever is in charge. Otherwise we get jerks who boot people for no good reason. They arent in your particular clique, dont min/max enough for you. Tell me how are casual players suppose to play then?

I agree that something must be done regarding people that are there to just **** other people off. But, it should not be up to you. I am sure there are going to be variuos game modes. For a battle that really means something (say something similar to clan wars in WoT) then yes. By all means you should have a choice. For modes where it is more or less for fun, then no, put on a fresh pair of panties and suck it up.

Just as a side note, unless you know someone or have some kind of contract with a house or merc unit, I dont thnk LWs should be able to play in major campaigns. This may bring up some other unwanted aspects of the game.

Maybe have them play as pirates or something?! Not sure, but the devs are smart folks and I trust them to make it fun and fair for everyone (OK, most everyone...).

How about this? It would put a little extra work in for the devs but ultimately might be a workable solution. Say you drop in with someone - and he proceeds to TK everyone. At the end of the match - you have the opportunity to report that person. That sends a report from the game - with TK values, damage done to Teammate values (to catch the people that don't kill teammates but just make them critical armor) etc. The devs review it and once 2 or 3 reports come in - they can suspend/ban the player. Yes it would result in a few wasted games - but it would provide unbiased people with the data needed to drop the ban hammer - and would prevent innocent people from being booted from a lobby because the "commander" thought he was the second coming. Thoughts?

I like the idea personally. Various things could be done to tweak it, but the idea is solid IMO.

FF should always be on. Battletech is full of people being bought off and what not.

I actually dont even like the idea of "matches" this is Battletech, intel always sucks, forces are always moving, bad stuff is always going on.
u should never have a concrete actual idea of anything but what u are dropping in with, the rest is a crap shoot..

FF will bring more bad than good. Dont forget this is a F2P game, ive seen alot of idiots who kill their teammates just for the fun of it in paid games. I know you think it'll bring more realism but you should understand for some people creating chaos in his own troops is more fun than winning. And besides, kick option is a bad idea in the first place. %90 of the time players will abuse it to votekick better players, and trust me it will happen. If you'r struggling to play the game as a result then its a bad design.
