However, No, there's no open beta . (Unless everyone on the forums is just REALLY keeping quiet about it, and I'm not in!!!)
They'll post info when they are ready.
Keep an eye on these forums, every Weds there's a new reveal. They've mentioned that ALOT of info is dropping at GDC (Game Developers Conference.) Which, if memory serves, starts around March 5th.

You mean Paul "Trollmaster" Inouye, right? He plucks at our heartstrings with news of playtesting, then laughs in our faces. Unfortunately, we're addicted and will dance to his tune until the release date.

Might not hurt to do a limited rollout. Invite only for folks that signed up on this website, just to make sure their backend can handle it.

Proper beta testing is a bear. And sometimes you get the bear, yadda yadda.

I don't quite recall closed beta testing being quite like this.
Sure there are a whole lot of bugs and you're doing the same thing over and over and over until something breaks, then having a reset where you lose everything. But its still a game and still fun.
From my experance the hardest part of beta testing was watching a few people really get in control of the forums, shut everyone else out then watch a bad game get produced.

My heart is broken :[
Depending on your guys' intentions of your Beta (simply for troubleshooting or more for extended exposure), I really hope it's a closed Beta, at least initially. Even if I sadly don't get into it. I've been a part of enough open Betas to see how terrible the general public views and reacts to them. They fail to realize the reason for a Beta and expect a finished product. If it's not golden, then they just get upset and talk crap and soon you have a horde of simply negative people. I've had a lot of bad experiences of the majority of the community being those type of people. I guess you can argue, they'll be like that anyways, and who needs them...but if you can avoid it, then that'd be awesome. The closed Betas I've been a part of were far better experiences and seemed to serve a good, true purpose. MAG was like that. Was part of their early testing and while it was buggy as hell (of course, and it's fun as hell helping fix it!), it was great being with like-minded and proactive people who knew what they were doing, and were interested in truely helping out Zipper Int fix their issues. Once that sucker went public, boy did it turn into a S-Storm. Good info still comes out of it, but I fear those groups of general gamers will just drag down other people of the community. I know it did with MAG, and I think it hurt the game a bit. Or maybe I'm just a worry wart since I love love my BT&MW and want MWO to truly shine without all those negative nancies.
