Gamemode idea...

Hi, ive been thinking quite a bit lately about a new gamemode. A attack/defend styled gamemode, the defending team has to defend the hrothgar dropship for a certain amount of time until it can take off, while the opposition has to storm the defenses and capture the hrothgar ship to prevent it from leaving the planet. It would be like standing in your enemy teams base field, standing in the hrothgars field would make a bar displayed on top of the screen like in tdm start to dissapear as the enemy team starts to capture the hrothgar ship. If the defending team gets in the field they will stop the bars downcounting like in TDM, please leave a comment and tell me what you think of the idea. :)

What if I wanted to attack/defend a Leopard or a Union dropship instead? B)

i think this idea can be improved but good idea all the still. B) thinkin of ways to improve rite now

Taking on a operational dropship can be insanely dangerous unless you have a decent number of mechs, just look at what a Union mounts:

3 x PPCs
6 x AC/5s
6 x LRM-20s
12 x Medium Lasers
5 x Large Lasers

This should prefably have the setup:

4 mechs + Union vs 12 enemy mechs.

Thats exactly the point of it all, to complete the team will have to teamwork together! Im trying to find a gamemode that depends on constant teamwork and this would actually be a good improvement to that fact.

To be honest that isnt really my concern, im just trying to bring up a gamemode you know? :lol:

It sounds way to much like the base system is right now. Only difference is one team has a base, the other doesnt. If it was some kind of king of the hill where your both after the dropship and it was in the middle, then it would be different. Whoever owns the square, the other teams ticket counter goes down, first team to die or reach zero tickets left loses. I think an escort mission would also be fun. Some NPC trucks with 80 armor follow a pre-determined path through the map, one team defends the other attacks. Could be fun plus the wining teams money could depend on how many trucks get through or are surviving at the end of the map. If all the trucks are destroyed then the escorting team loses.

Great idea! And yes, defensive forces would have an advantage and thus maybe the setup should be something like 8 defenders vs 16 attackers.I also like the idea of a king of the hill battle.

Just poking fun. It seemed you had specified a specific model of dropship where no specificity was specifically needed. :)
I agree this could be a good match mode if implemented well.

I agree this could be a good match mode if implemented well.

Indeed it would rely on teamwork, i mean i always went for teamwork in TDM but people seem to care less about their teamates. I got jumped by an atlas several of my teamates passed without doing anything, it would be a enjoyable mode and on the same time providing the requirement of constant teamwork wich people also could learn of :D

If the dropship can use its weapons... I'd like a Fortress, please!

While a gamemode like this would be great, it would require at least simple AI to aim the dropship weapons.
