I just picked up a six pack of that to try it out not even an hour ago. I'm about a beer and a half in and I can see why you like the shock top. I don't think it's top of my favorites list but it is a delightful ale.

Unfortunately< something in ShockTop (sulfates perhaps?) triggers a sever allergic reaction. The flavor was pleasant.. the closed windpipe however, was not.

My favorite has to be most of the Bayern beers, like the Dragons Breath that is a a dark amber that tastes closer to an ale. In fact I am drinking one right now
There are a few from the Kettlehouse I like too, like Cold Smoke, the kind of beer you can have for dinner (just the beer...), got knocked on my *** by that brew a time or too

Budweiser (duh!)
Corona (Most inconsistent beer ever)
Heinekin (tastes like Heiny, so it is well named!)
Yuengling (Just got imported to Ohio, though I had known about it for years...... I do not get what people go wild about this beer for!)
Sam Adams Boston Lager (Life's too short for bitter beer!)
Then again, I tend to find almost ALL big name American beers lacking.
We have some real good microbrews, and some like Sam Adams have a few decent beer s(Cherry Wheat), but all in all not really. The best thing Budweiser ever made (IMO) was Michelob Dark, which they seemed to have discontinued long ago.
I have had a few decent commercial HArd Ciders though. (Angry Orchard and HardCore Cider Dry). I wonder if there are some nice European Ciders to be found?

My favourite "important" beer has to be Leffe Vieille Cuvee. I also love Negra Modello, and the dos equis amber someone has mentioned.
On the other side, I am not a huge fan on becks, and I hate carling.

But I do enjoy one or another bottle from time to time.
I prefer "Unertl Weißbier" (I guess it is called wheat beer in america, "Unertl" is the name of the brewery). It is from a local brewery near my place, but it is sold throughout south-germany I guess.
It tastes almost a bit sweet, which I like. I really don't like Pils and beers like Beck's for their bitter taste.
I also like "1543" from the brewery Flötzinger. It is also a Weißbier.
If you really want to have a bad hangover, just take a Maß (I don't know the word here, simply beer mug perhaps?), fill in a bottle (0,5 ltr) of wheat beer, half a liter of coca cola and then add a schnapps glas of cherry brandy (a liquer made of cherrys) to it (or more, if you want it reeeeally sweet).
If you don't like it that sweet, you can use Cognac instead, if I remember correctly.
It is called "Goaß'n Maß" in Bavaria. Sweet and tasty and if you drink to much, you have some bad headache and an upset stomach the next day.
But I like it and it was the only thing I ever drank from a Maß without setting the mug back or taking a breath inbetween... won me another Goaß'n Maß!

Favourite real ale < stupid term. Would have to be Young's Bitter, that is one amazing ale, golden in colour with one of the best hopped aromas and after-tastes.
http://www.youngsbee...gfx/advert5.jpg
Second would be Frog Island Best Bitter
Thirdly Adnam's Southwold Bitter, nice beer with a fruity taste.
Mild
Would have to go for Bank's Mild
Stout
Sam Smiths and Guinness, though Guinness has transcended and become it's own beer haha.
Lager
Peroni Nastro Azzuro is a nice drink.
Carlsberg and Carling should be avoided at all cost. Beware of anything served extra cold as that's just to mask how awful it tastes.
