Atlases are jacks of all trades, masters of none. Even in just level 1 play I'd rather take a King Crab on any mission that doesn't involve literally grabbing objectives (because that requires hand actuators) but let's face it, no MW game has ever taken advantage of hands on 'Mechs. Ever.

However Clan tech is horribly balanced and it's clear the devs at the time of their introduction had no clue what they were doing. And even before that. The AC/5 is too heavy for its job while the Medium Laser is about as close you can get to breaking the system before Double Heat Sinks get introduced. Magnify these balance issues and you get the horribly designed and overpowered Clan technology standard. (cERPPCs, cLPLs, cLRMs, and cERMLs destroy any semblance of game balance on the tabletop, even in Clan vs. Clan matches)

The Daishi is a fully-armored Clan Assault filled to the brim with enough weapons to make an entire lance of IS lvl 1 Assaults blush. It's so bullshit it hurts.

Looks sweet, though. Also I'd rather call it a Dire Wolf, even though I call Timberwolves Mad Cats because "Mad Cat" is so damn snappy.

The Atlas uses a Standard engine while the Daishi uses a Clanner XL engine. This is the chief trade-off which establishes the Atlas as a much more durable machine in exchange for not being able to pack as much firepower as the Daishi.

Because of this, I prefer the Atlas simply because if your top speed is only around 50 kph you need to be capable of taking quite a few more hits than normally expected from the lighter weight classes. The Daishi's firepower is great, but it is too much of a 'blast them before they blast you' mech for my tastes.

I always prefered the AS7 Dr / K / K2 variants for range.
But honestly, I'm old-school. Gimme an assault lance Battlemasterx2, Archer, Awesome. and I'll deliver you a Kurita throne.
unless ya wanna let me into a PhoenixHawk-LAM

There are some Atlas variant that matches a Daishi ( As-7K with upgraded heatsinks from single to double) in firepower.
Personally i prefer uprated AS-7S2 Modells of the Atlas, with Ak20 changed to Gaus, because of the TT system it's likely to loose a Torso and then a XL Reactor is a drawback.
So you have either a very rugged Mech which you have to beat down to the reactor ( Atlas) or a very advanced and Powerfull Mech which might prove unreliable ( Daishi) personally i take Atlas for the Looks, and there are Powerfull variants too which can Match a Daishi.

Id go totally for Daishi the Widow maker.

Same protection and speed as atlas, but far mor devastating firepower (and far more expensive eh...)

But any time Ive seen Daishi vs Atlas, atlas pilot had to go find himself another mech...altough Daishi was never unharmed, she survived.

Yo btw my all time favorite was Black Knight, coz of its look - and with good equipment it could take out atlas. Only problem I had was that firepower came at price of not beeing able to cool it.

What is a Daishi?

Alright I am trolling, but I would take a Dire Wolf (I know big surprise).
