Unfortunately, most of the stock configurations of the Atlas sucked. Up close it barely has more firepower than a Hunchback (unless you count those fists, which you can't use if you fire the lasers) or those legs. The 3050 variant was super undersinked and could have had a lot of its problems mitigated with double heat sinks which we didn't see until RS3060 or so. Given the choice I'd choose the Daishi, but not any of the standard configurations besides the A.

Definately the Daishi/Dire Wolf, it looks way cooler, i love its hulking heavy form it terrifies me when i see it coming my way, and the sort of armor over the top of the cockpit almost similar to a puma looks sick.. to be honest i have never seen the appeal in the atlas, sure its big and tough, but i just hate its looks... like it has hands for god sake.. what good are hands to a battlemech? to be honest i have always preferred the mechs that have articulated legs, have cockpits and look more like fighter jets such as the Vulture (Favourite mech) or Cauldron Born to the robotic people looking mechs.. i just find them slightly silly imo regardless of armor or weapons

On that note can anyone confirm for me that the Timberwolf/Madcat and Vulture/Maddog are in the game?

Neither. If I wanted to be slow as **** I'd take an Urban Mech.

What's a Daishi?

*curiously looks around the IS*

I'd take an Atlas for 3 reasons - Parts are available readily, Repair/Refit knowledge is common, and it has actuated Hands.
If I have a Mech I want it to be repairable, maintainable, and versatile enough to make it logistically useful when I'm not engaged in actual live-fire combat.

The Atlas is a great machine, but I have "fond" memories being introduced to two daishis in Mechwarrior 3. They absolutely scared me and have to do some out of the box thinking to eliminate them. Hence, why I'm such a fan of this mech!

I like the Dashi better. The Atlas just doesn't do it for me.

I never felt right sitting in a Daishi cockpit. Atlas always felt better. Maybe not as good, but it felt better and had a nice enough loadout to get the job done.

Xanthos, yes the Age of War Quad.

AS7-D 2 MLs, SRM6, AC/20, LRM-20
XNT-30 3 MLs, SRM6, AC/20, PPC

Same armor, same speed, Quad can't twist but can sidestep.... would make circle fighting really interesting.

XNT has more firepower in close and won't run out of ammo for the PPC.

Water deep enough to hide the legs makes the XNT a real pain to hit.

When was it first produced.... 2564, a few centuries before the AS7-D. Why did they stop making it? I have no clue.

There is an updated XNT model in the Jihad. ER PPC, 5 MPLs, rear ER SL, and JUMP.... a 50 kph jump at that it jumps as well as a GRF-1N (farther then a SHD)....

I want to land my 100 ton quad mech on your Atlas.

http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Xanthos

they stopped making quads because when you shoot off 1 of the weakly armored legs, the mech is gimped (the arm legs only have arm armor, but if you blow one up the other 3 can barely keep the mech standing and moving at the same time, going fast is not longer an option, neither is side skittering)

Atlas, 'cause I like thumbs.

thumbs for the win. cant wait to grab some scrub clanners mech, and gouge my thumbs into his cockpit, killing him with extreme veracity.

Atlas vs. Daishi? Daishi. In MW3 it had better cockpit visibility & was a more comfortable ride at full speed (especially important since I tended to upgrade the engines on assault mechs & add MASC). In MW-O it's an omni, so fewer hardpoint limits. I'd rather pilot the Daishi if it had Inner Sphere tech. If the Atlas was a Clan 2nd-line mech & the Daishi was an Inner Sphere omni, it might be a harder choice.

If i had the choice give me the "Stone Rhino" or i stay with my Marauder!

If there is no other choice I'll take the Atlas.
