Is it bad that I laughed out loud when I loaded that image? :)

Not sure if serious. If so then yes.

Well, damn. I was disappointed when I heard that the new mech was a Centurion, which I previously remembered for no other reason than it being ugly... but that, right there? That's a damn fine looking mech, if I do say so.

Flyingdebris hits another one out of the ballpark. Forget the haters. The original design was embarassingly bad, and if you want to rag on something wrong with the design why not focus that according to the original TRO 1 of them Med. Lasers is rear facing?

Now, we just need it's cousin the Trebuchet. After all the Centurion was built as it's escort.

Being able to turn the mechs head has zero gameplay implications.

Where would we be without alex? Although I did not instantly recognize the mech, the original centurion art is pretty bland and forgetable, so it figures. Great job, the centurion is defeinatly recognizable now.

Wait, wait, wait... isn't the Centurion just a slow Dragon? One has 2 medium lasers, an AC/10, and a LRM10, the other has 2 medium lasers, an AC/5, and a LRM10. I guess the Centurion's only advantage is the "upgrade" from an AC/5 to an AC/10.

(I know the Centurion came first)

Im sure mechs will have many other characteritics beside speed and weapons to set them apart.

I respect your POV Amarus, but I gotta say, the Centurion has always been laughable. Now it's a beast. I can live with that.

My thoughts, this is a wonderful upgrade to a 1980s line art that looks like it took 15 minutes to draw

And I thought Dragon was meant to replace Shadow Hawk. :)

I admit that, while the art is well done, I had to read the title to see what mech it was.

So, it's the first redesign I don't like; the Cent has lost the clunky, utilitarian appeal that made it the machine it was. Now I fear for the Urbie.

For those who are saying it looks too "skinny", if you look just above the hip joint you can see the turret gimble where the torso twist point is at.

Because you can actually get attacked from behind maybe?

I like it alot, however, I agree with some of the others in the this thread. I would not recognize this machine as a Centurion if I saw it on the battlefield first. /shrug

I'm an old BT player from the 80's and grew up loving the old TRO's, like a lot of the other old timers. I love this Centurion (and all of the other designs so far), yes it is not the same as the TRO from 1980-something, but that's a good thing. Thanks for all the hard work FD, your efforts are much appreciated as is your vision of how a 'mech should look!

To the rest of my fellow old timers...open your minds to change.

Another fine redesign by Flying debris. Love what you did to the head to keep the roman helmet look. Also that shield arm is a nice idea, will come in handy in melee fights to have a designated melee arm.

Also i love that the new centurion doesnt look like a beanstalk anymore, he still looks lean but has gained some borader shoulders.

I see you looking at the thread FD, ignore the Smoke Jaguars and other haters of your Centurion. Most Bad *** ever, upgraded that 15 minute line art from the TROs to a mech that will put some fear in to a pilots heart. This is a machine to instill fear, it is a walking tank of destruction! It should make people watching from their windows cringe in fear. The old TRO Centurion, not so much. This one, one scary beast.

Very much want. So, very, very awesome. A great redesign as always. The old centurion looked so... stupid, to be honest. But, this... This looks like a war-machine. I'm not sure which one I like more, FD's new Dragon, or FD's new Centurion.

To all the 'where did it's neck go?' folks, necks are over-rated. A head on top of a neck is just another vulernability on a warmachine. There's not enough benefit to warrant the ever-present risk of a shot finding it's way up into the neck-joint and insta-killing the mech. Peripheral vision? That's what a couple extra cameras and screens are for.

I'm not sure how to bring this up, but does anyone else think that the new Centurion bears a bit of a resemblance to the Cyclon Centurion design from the re-imgained Battlestar Galactica series? Not saying it's a bad thing, and maybe it's just me.
