Paul probably let a little troll loose in your mech and it chewed on the wiring to your ankle actuator. Really its not your fault, or Matt's. Either of them. Its Pauls fault.

This is one of my biggest beefs with full customization... it makes different 'Mech chassis of the same tonnage pointless. Any 50-tonner can be any other 50-tonner, so why bother having more than one at all?

Well, that and the aforementioned boating.

I really hope they limit the amount of customization you can do.

I agree. If, instead, you had two 75 ton Mechs, and each had abilities to put only certain types (and size) weapons in certain body spots, then each begins to be more purposeful to the role you want to play.

A Mech that can carry a lot of projectiles works as good fire support. But it also allows players who take the time to learn that Mech's loadout abilities to know "If I want to remove the projectile-based threats from this Mech, I should aim for THESE locations".

When a Mech is a weapon's boat and there are no limitations to what you can put where as long as you just have the tonnage available for it, that throws out the need for that tactical knowledge.

Now, I may not know if they have a SRM, LRM, MRM, Streaks, Tbolts, etc. until I can get close enough to see it, or watch them fire it, so there's still an element of surprise; but you KNOW what kind of weapon is there.

That's why Omni slots were so powerful; because it could allow for any type of weapon to exist in a location where on other mechs it was only a certain type. I would love to hear the final say on how PGI is implementing this.

Paul will pay for this, it took me seven hours to get this thing up and running, now I got to deal with the pests and a messed up ankle.

A really good interview. Thanks for posting it.

Well, it must be good since everything else regarding the game itself we got from devs was Pauls trolling. ;)

The community warfare idea here is edging close to what would be considered a planetary league concept. As far as the mechlab is concerned, limitors can be programmed in, for instance pure tech only on a given mech chassis, or base variants with changes available only to similar slots (ala MW4) (like swap an SRM6 for an SRM 2 (or eliminate it altogether) and move the weight to something else, like a larger beam laser, heat sinks, or an intel pod)

Yeah, that is just about the forum consensus. He cant help by skylight himself like a lone clan mech siloet on a ridge with a sea of catapaults below him. *slowly shakes his head*

I bet that Mech customization will cost both Mech XP and C-Bills and the more you want to change a Mech the more expensive it becomes.

Send a message to Kyle or Garth. They may be able to get ****** un filtered. As long as it is a viable reason. I had Damn and damned taken off the list, because, well as I joked you even here Damned in Star Trek. Ben Sisko said, "What the damn hell do you think you are doing?' a few times I figured this community was adult enough to say Damn ;)

"In North America, MechWarrior has been the king, and most anime style robot games have not gained much traction. I think this about to change with a wave of promising robot games."

Wut? Can someone decipher this? Is MWO going to be "Anime style Robot game"? Or is he talking about Hawken and ... and... what else would he be talking about?

Customization will need to be seen before I can fully judge it. Like for like? Limited weapon slots? Much remains to be revealed.

Rewarded for filling your role? For pickup games will be interesting to see if anyone forgoes weapons for an ECM pod. Smells like House companies and MechCorps will be better equipped than a random group of players to counter jamming, etc. Seems fair to me.

Multiple Mechs - nice. Should take a while before someone corners the market on Atlas', I hope.

I dunno.. there might be some fight as it is in direct refrance to one of Pual's ankle biting Trolololls. This might skyline his secret plan to prevent all of us from piloting mechs due to voting on that one pole over which of his Clanner Clones we would shoot first if we saw them...

Armored Core V, maybe? Though I thought that always had a strong following. The new version looks like it's going to have more strategic multiplayer.

While I cannot speak for Bryan, and therefore "decipher" much, I can lay out a small list of the "robot" games, other than MWO, that I am aware of being in development.

Hawken
MekArcade
A possible resurrection of MechAssault by way of a third iteration
Armored Core

We will see what happens, and time will tell.

My free time will evaporate if MechAssault 3 hits. That coupled with MWO, just too much going on. I have to say that a new MA would be incredible, but I have become rather partial to MWO and I am really looking forward to the persistent world. It just feels like it has more...substance, more meaning.

Far be it from me to turn down some great arcade mech bashing action though. No doubt about it, if MA3 hit, I would pay good money for it and play the hell out of it.
