Gonna get me a Union and load it up with Urban Mechs then crash it into a planet.

None will stand before the tactical might of our crash landings and trashcans with legs.

I'm there

Good dropships are hard to find.

This is the best thread I have read. We're gonna start small with a lance, so a Leopard will be my choice. Not as much upkeep. I have a guy who will wet himself over this info.

I read Dragoon's rating! \o/. Randal's Rednecks are ready!

What role, if any will drop ships have in the game?

Dropships could have multi-roles, resupply/ repair, mobile HQ. massive fire-support platforms. They would be major assets during battles

Commanders will have the option to call in artillery. An invading force's artillery could be the weapons mounted on the Dropship. Search for the numerous threads on all the talk about Commander's (or Leaders, if one wishes to go with that. Battle Coordinator, anyone? BC for short).

Wow...if this is a hint, just how ambitious are you guys? Are we talking eventual combined arms game here? If so I'll clear out some of my budget to buy useless knickknacks to support yall.

Personally I like the Areodyne dropships. Big DSs are okay for a combat drop, but nothing beats a small DS for raiding, and they are useful in moving lances after the main drop is made. I wonder if we wil be able to use a DS to "readjust" battle field locations. I like the idea of integrating the DS with MWO as it places another layer of teamwork and co-ordination in the game without even thinking about the economic implications. This just gets better and better.

Oh this brings some intresting thoughts. As I Found the Company books for Caldwells Heavy company, It would be so cool but so very involved if they went beyond the Fight and created a complete Universe. with all the enherant commerce. Jump lines governments. Ect. Oh the dreams... Its nice to dream... I miss playing...

Dare we dream about commanders being able to set an LZ to extract to if we want to save our hopelessly outclassed mechs from becoming scrap in the game? Posted Image

This would be incredible.

I just want my drop ship to have a bar, whorehouse and some sort of safe to lock away my sensibilities I never use. Morals are such a bother.

Even more in-depth unit management, me likey!

The more granular, the better! Unless, of course, each little micro decision cost money!

Mmmk, thats all great and wonderfull if the maps are big enough to justify but not be dominated by a single unit.

How intriguing is this. It sounds like a new layer to game play has just been added, or at least is possibly being added. The possibilities of how Dropships will affect and invariably effect the game are making for great speculation.

Drop Ships would bring a lot of complexity and depth to the battle field. As there are only mechs on the field of combat at times the battle field can feel a bit two dimensional. If drop ships are introduced and work for the game it would provide a huge amount of depth to both combat tactics and easier equipment management.
