I've gotta ask the question 'Why are people that want to be in the clans putting on the Houses as their icons?'. Why don't they just leave their tags as that unknown faction? I really had to ask this after I saw some posts like this one:

ok well let me just say... that we are allowed to like more then 1 faction. i cant pick CGB right now so ill go with my second preference which is a mercenary, and we wont get clans untill 2013 so we might as well play a faction we will enjoy :\

@Kodiak, the clans aren't making an appearance for a MONTH or so after game's release. Not a year.

i checked the interviews and blogs cant find a thing on it, so unless i'm missing something the clans will not be hear till 3050 which is when they invaded the inner sphere according to the cannon. last i heard the clans where in ther Periphery in 49.

*sighs* The 'month' after launch IS just the Periphery. They were setting up their supply lines and, in their mine, getting a idea of the potential opposition. THEY DID NOT start the invasion then. Operation Revival starts March 3050.

They will not allow those periphery planets to be accessible as then they would get a huge amount of players converging in the Coreward Periphery.

I think you are making a big deal about nothing. This is after all, only the forums where everyone can while away their time until the game is released. So what if someone chooses to represent their favourite House here and then want to join their favourite Clan later on in the game? My favourite Clan is Clan Snow Raven, but my favourite Inner Sphere is House Liao. While I will not be among the thousands to swarm into the Clans when given the chance (let us face it, when the option is available, there WILL be that many - perhaps more going to join them), as I am staying loyal to House Liao always, I still have personal preferences between the Clans and Inner Sphere.
To me, that is all people are showing on their forums by choosing a House or talking about which Clan they wish to join.

Because until I can go and join Clan Jade falcon I will play in my next best choice, House Davion. It's a favourite from way back when I first read 'The Sword and the Dagger.' and continues to be.

Clans are not a faction yet, Davion is, end of story.

Excuse me for being ignorant of pretty much all the details on MWO (only just been in a position to start catching up & getting excited!), but I don't suppose theres been any suggestion of Comstar being a faction? I'm a big fan of the clans, but having first got into MW through MW3 & not liking the houses, I could see myself going with Comstar if there were to be a massive exodus to the clans when they're brought in...

Not that I have heard. I DO see them as playable, but like the Clans probably not until a few years after Launch. Early 2015, as Tukayyid, which was the proxy battle to Terra was in May 3052, and we a re in 2012, game time 3049. 3 years from now. 2013 is Clans, 2014 is, improved tactics or something for the Clan year long vote of new IlKhan. 2015 would be Battle of Tukayyid.

Mind you only PGI know what is planned haha

People showing strong support for clans is great. Lets the devs know there are alot of folks out there who want to play clan if it becomes available.

Comstar isn't really in the intergallactic real estate business like all of the other factions.

Clanner should not be house people because they are not apart of the inner speare. at the start of online. they should have there own mini war before they go to the inner sphere.

I do like the sound of this long term progression, but I guess I'm just going to have to pick the house I dislike least to hang out with for a while, unless I can be a Merc from day one?
