Title says it all. Its been a month since keys were distributed i think and I'd just like to know if there are any plans for any keys other than founders at this point. Vids and releases keep mentioning sign up for the beta but It doesnt seem like the devs are following that battle plan any more.
SO what gives? are we all pending unless we plunk down the cash for a beta candidate at this point.?

There are two possible sollutions: Buy founders pack and enter closed beta, or wait, and enter open beta. Don't expect any additional beta keys.

hahahah, the irony is hilarious. "I like mechwarrior, but I don't think its worth anything"

Being worth anything and being able/willing to spend money to it are not the same thing.

I think shakespeare is worth a LOT to the history of art, yet if someone said I had to pay them to set up a shakespeare play I'd not agree.

I LOVE the d20 RPG system and have spent countless hours on it - hundreds, if not thousands actually, and have seen dozens of people saying good things about my creations, yet I won't ever buy a rulebook published by the d20 license owners.

And then there's the matter when you love something but your choice is between buying it and buying yourself a pair of pants that does NOT have gigantic holes. I've been there, it's tough, but that doesn't mean my liking of something is less worth.

i understand that i will have to wait till open beta or even general release but before i spend $120 or £76 on a founders pack i would like to see the game in action for myself not via video and yes i know its not any of the games i mentioned but its still a game in testing and i don't think the the founders should act like there the ones deciding who get the keys yes we get it your in the beta but don't rub it in. play the game report bugs and reassure non beta players that its worth the wait don't come out with cocky comments like i have seen it makes people not want to play the game with you or even spend money to get the same abuse in game it almost sickens me to see founders acting like they are i am more than happy to wait for a key it don't bother me but all people are doing is asking a simple question. will there be any more keys and you should provide a simple answer like im not sure at this moment in time but keep checking your beta status and the forums for updates

If that is the case, then I think they should remove that beta application form on the webpage. It's a bit misleading otherwise. And perhaps inform those in waiting that you weren't picked this time.

Im not even going to dignify that with a response except for this, did you take into factor that maybe I have a life to finance before a game series that I absolutly love.

funny as heck that people say "not going to dignify with response" and then do so. oh and perhaps you should factor in that some of us have our life financed and money is noooooooo problem, and so therefore we can afford to do the things we love so much.

cheers

see that is exactly what im saying there is no need to comment like that as a founder don't rub it in that you can do things others cant. you should provide support and reassurance not boasting that your life is perfect

I don't get the impressions that founders are "acting like there [are] the ones deciding who get the keys," but the cold hard truth is that those people that purchased the founders packs were promised early access, which I'm assuming all are in the Closed Beta now; PGI never promised that all those that signed up for Closed Beta and have not purchased a founders pack will get in. There's always hope that the Devs may release additional Beta Keys. Just be patient. If you don't get into Closed Beta, there's always Open Beta. If you don't get into the Closed Beta before Open Beta, then I guess you're SOL.

no they didnt promise anything to non founders but they offered a beta signup so they could at least post a thread saying we apologize that not all of the people that signed up for beta have got keys but keep your fingers crossed it could still happen

The Devs or PGI never did promse that people signing up for the Beta will get in either. It's already well known that singing up for Betas doesn't mean you will get in.

Or they could just not say anything and you could be patient, because either way what does it matter?

No, what we're saying is, let this topic die along with all the others like it, IF there will be more keys given out you MIGHT be lucky enough to get one, but realistically it's not much time until the end of summer which is when Open Beta will begin according to PGI and ANYONE can play then, so I don't see them giving anymore keys out.

Actually I need to correct myself on this point; you will get into Beta, just not Closed Beta so PGI doesn't have to make a thread to tell people that singed up for the Beta will not get in, because everyone that signed up will get into the Beta. So I guess you arguement is more about why you didn't receive an invitation to the Closed Beta. In reference to Closed Beta testing, it is by invite only and you were not invited (as of yet perhaps). Remember by software development and release cycle definition, Closed Beta is by invite only. Open Beta, well, is open so you will be in the Open Beta. PGI decided that people you bought the founders pack are going to be included with the Closed Beta.

In short you will be part of the Beta sometime in the future, just not the Closed Beta, which precludes the need for the Devs to make a separate thread or announcement that would advise everyone that singed up for the Beta will not be included because they will be included in the future as part of the Open Beta.

I would probably pay 10$ for a package, 30$ it is to much for me. I live in a country with a economic crisis going on and a huge unemployment situation.
People shouldn't refer to the packages to be affordable to everyone, because, not everyone lives in the same country or belongs to the same "wealthy group".

I never said anything about the packages being affordable to everyone, as many other founders have not as well. I know other have but then again it wasn't directed to you specifically because many others forum members do have the financial resources to buy a founder pack but choose not to and those comments about it being affordable are aimed at them.

Don't worry as you will to play MWO during the Open Beta without having to spend any money.

Well, I have to note, it IS marked as "closed beta registration". IF (note if) there aren't going to be any more closed beta keys released except for founders, it would be nice of PGI to say so in a thread. That way, people don't have to sit through the registration process, downloading performance checkers and getting their hopes up. It would certainly bring goodwill to them, at least from me.

I do think it's a bit rude IF they're aware they aren't going to release any more free open beta keys to not tell people about it. While they don't have any juridical responsibility to do it, I do feel that it's not really nice to the fans to cause them to sit through a completely meaningless registration process and to keep them in the dark about the situation - it's like if I started an online lottery that was free, but I never gave out the prize I've implied on the homepage. It's not illegal, but it's not a really nice thing to do.

Now, it may very well be that the devs ARE going to release more keys, or at least that they haven't decided not to yet, or they might have decided not to but haven't realized the registration process for the closed beta is still open. We can't know that.

But still, I wouldn't be sad if they posted a "the free closed beta applications are closed" - mainly because I personally don't think anyone registering now will get a chance to play in the closed beta for free, and it's good if they don't have to sit through the registration.

and.... this... ^^^^
this was the point of the OP . Its been irksome to me for weeks now but c'est la vie.
TO our friends in lands with not mucho dinero. THe great benefit is that it will be free to play. THe bad thing is if you are from somewhere where a construction worker makes the equivalent of 3 usd a day, be prepared to be p-laying the game at a low resolution as I think its going to be a wee bit demanding on systems.
gl all.
