Seems like there should be bigger news on this day, in particular.

Only if you care what's going on in the barbaric periphery, far from anything most people consider news. :)

Not to mention the 'reboot'. Heck we don't even have a Federated Commonwealth in this reality. ;)

That news has to travel if it has even occurred yet. The son of one of the founders of the most influential merc units, as well as the cousin of the future prince of the Federated Commonwealth, vanishing and presumed dead to periphery bandits is a big deal.

I'm a little disappointed there wasn't more of a tease.

Yes we do. Piranha just didn't bother to merge both House Steiner and House Davion into 'House Steiner-Davion' for the purposes of 'factions' to follow. If you think about it, the two sides of the Federated Commonwealth might as well be two different nations. And actually were, for the longest time. And will be again.

Shouldn't there be any news about this small little planet in the periphery called The Rock ?

Just because the situation on "The Rock" happened today, doesn't mean news about it would go out, today. It takes time for word to get back of what happened. Heck, there's still plenty of day left, it may not have even happened yet.

And even if this "event" were considered priority one to ComStar, it would still take days to get to Terra, and they spend a lot of time dissecting what's in the battle-rom before sending out any sort of news. As such, I hope to hear some news about the loss of Morgan's son in the coming days. What a tragedy. Surprised the Periphery pirates got the drop on him. :)

They didn't receive any messages from the remaining Kellhounds till September.

Shouldn't we be hearing about small bandit kingdoms suddenly being obliterated by a superior force :)

The problem is that information only travels slowly from the pirate kingdoms since they usually lack HPG's (Oberon VI is the only planet with a HPG station in that area). And Oberon isn't all that chatty when it comes to the Successor States, so they won't notice.

So they are really dependant on jumpships to ferry their messages to and from HPG stations.
