I'd rather have a Mongoose than any of the 'Mechs in the poll. I voted Firefly though.

Never played the trash can. Ok it had a big gun, but seemed too, well trash can like to suit me. I did play a Firefly, so it gets my vote.

For those that do not understand the reason people like the urbie, i will paraphrase an argument i have heard before and i direct you to exhibit A.

Posted Image
This is "the Klobb" there are many like it, but this one is yours and it like the rest are all horrible.
Posted Image

The only real reason to use it, is to prove to yourself and to an opponent that you can beat them to a pulp with both arms and legs tied behind your back, a blindfold on, and set on fire

a fighting game equivalent would be exhibit B
Posted Image

that is the charm of the urbanmech. its a deathwish, but if you can suceed in spite of it, your glory is assured and immortal

thats all i have to say on that :)

this is the problem i see with the urban mech

Land at drop zone > arrive at battle the same time as all the assultmechs > BOOM > wait for respawn..

or

Land at drop zone > Chase the battle > End mission timer

Urbie will probably go the way of DPS healers, DPS tanks, and all the other people trying to make a square peg fit in a round hole. Your team is probably better off to have a light mech as a scout than a poorly armored turret siting on top a fusion reactor.

I see the urbanmech as a slightly more moble turret. Great for defending a single building, fails at patrolling anything bigger.

Its lack of mobility is not made up for by a big gun.... >:C

One urbie can be an annoyance.

A company of urbies = death to all non-believers.

I am torn between the Hermes, 151 kph but no jump jets, and the Falcon, only 90-something kph but jump jets...Decisions decisions.

Hermes, falcon, and firefly seem like odd choices looking at the timeline. All 3 were rare, limited production mechs. In 3049, you wouldln't see many houses with them. Urbanmech is a very common, widely used mech

And for gameply, I voted urbanmech, since its suppose to be good at urban warfare, and PGI is pusing urban warefare. Lets see what you guys can do with this puggy mech.

Haters gonna hate...

And I'm hating. These four are terrible picks for light mechs, and I'm hoping that this poll is merely designed to lead people in the wrong direction. Three mechs in low production as mentioned above, and despite all the love it gets on the forums, a mech that is either situationally acceptable (in one and only one place) or the biggest liability ever made.

In other Mech games, say, MW4 or MW:LL, go get in a 30 ton mech. Ok, now go out in the battlefield in multiplayer, but don't drive over 30 KPH and dont jump more than 60 meters. Tell us how that works out for you.

Lol, apparently I'm fired up about this. So many light mechs are great and would be a better choice than those four!

Cheers

Oh sweet sweet victory! The Firefly is ahead by 27. I love the urbie, I really do... but I NEED my Firefly.

I mean, if anyone needs a testament to their awesome. It's right here.

You see how they die so much? That's the winning ticket, right there.

You would be better off straping yourself to an office chair with legs and a nuclear bomb in your lap while you yell 'Bang Bang' at the other Mechs...

}:C

at the same time, its still faster then an urbanmech there for safer.

It's all good... there's one apple here that likes to keep talking about the UrbanMech... one day I'll just pull his bottom lip over his head and make him swallow.

Well, IMO all 3 light mechs and 1 trashcan mentioned in poll are... trash :D, give us ECM Raven please!

A free tip for developers:
make Urbie a DLC - all forum freaks crying for it would have to buy it - just imagine tonns of money they will bring you, rofl.

They die so much cause the firefly has thus been renamed the Lemming.

It was hard between the urbie and the firefly. I ended up with the Firefly.

I went with the Hermes, but it was definitely the best of a bad lot in terms of choices. The Hermes is at least a good, quick recon 'mech, even if it has little else to recommend it (except maybe a flamer for lulz). The Urbanmech is good at being cheap and outgunning anything it its weight class at close/mid-range, but absolutely useless outside of defensive positions where it has a lot of cover - retreat is obviously not an option, and it's pretty well doomed if it's caught out in the open by fire support, or if a heavy/assault lance comes down on its position. It has a place in the BT universe, but not a great selection to bring in-game until some of the more "bread and butter" roles get filled. The Firefly, likewise, is a nice design for knocking out other light 'mechs (especially missile-boats) in a stand-up fight, but it lacks the firepower to really take on heavier 'mechs (maybe an Assassin), lacks the speed to escape heavier units in a recon role, and lacks the armor to really be a 'heavy scout' in any circumstance. The Flacon looked decent, too, but it doesn't have anything to really recommend it over a Hermes.

I'd have really liked to see a Javelin/Fire Javelin (good utility missile/laser-boat light 'mech design), or a Hussar (fast but flimsy recon 'mech with a heavy mid-range punch for sniping or harassing heavier units). :D
