The Hermes is OK. There HER-3S1 is available in 3049 and has BAP and ECM. I voted Firefly, as that is what my name sake pilots at this point in the timeline. However, I'd say the Falcon is my fav out of all of the 4 designs.

I don't really like any of the choices...

Falcon I guess if i had to pick.

Personally I would have put either a Hitman or Spider on the poll INMO.

Very disappointed by these 30 ton mech choices. I agree with the previously stated fact that the Falcon, Firefly and Hermes are rare. In fact, the falcon and firefly were not seen in the I.S. since the star league prior to the Wolf Dragoons appearance in 3005, and no houses had the capability to produce them that i know of.

Source - Sarna.net :
Until the arrival of Wolf's Dragoons, the Firefly was a 'Mech thought to be extinct from the rigors of the Succession Wars. The Firefly is a well-armed recon 'Mech that tips the scales at thirty tons. Since it was reintroduced to the Inner Sphere, the 'Mech has been refitted by the Wolf's Dragoons with Star League technology. It has a maximum ground speed of 86.4 km/h and can jump up to one hundred and twenty meters. As a scout 'Mech, the Firefly gives average performance with its energy weapon-heavy arsenal and is useful in both a recon and in a guerilla fighter role.

Same goes for the Falcon, in fact its not even in production in the I.S. until 3060

Source:
Originally developed as an anti-infantry and Bug Hunter 'Mech, the Falcon is a highly popular light recon and skirmisher 'Mech. [2]
Initially created for the newly formed Star League Defense Force's use in the Reunification War, the popular design remained in production until the destruction of Stormvanger's Hesperus II Falcon line by a House Marik raid in 2789, becoming all but extinct until the arrival of Wolf's Dragoons in 3005. [2] Well regarded by the mercenaries, the Dragoons upgraded their dwindling number of Falcons in the early 3050s before eventually commissioning Blackwell Industries to restart production of the design in early 3060 to produce advanced Clan-tech versions for their exclusive use, as well as more mundane and affordable versions for the general mercenary market.[1]

The Hermes is rare, but still in possession of the I.S. Houses

Source:
The Hermes would serve for nineteen years on the frontline before reassignment to second-line units and, eventually, put into storage. The Succession Wars would bring the Hermes back into battle, though repairs and production of new units would rely on heavier, less advanced components as Star League technology became lost. The rediscovery of this lostech has spurred on Irian Battlemechs to reintroduce the Hermes as a limited production, specialty 'Mech.

Unfortunately, as much as I love the Javelin, it is a rare mech as well.....take a look at this:

Source:
The Javelin was first built in 2751. The 'Mech quickly gained a reputation as a sturdy and reliable scout 'Mech. Though the original factories that produced the Javelin are gone, the Federated Suns began producing the venerable 'Mech once more at Jalastar Aerospace in 3055

As far as the most common 30 ton mechs...there are not many.

Valkyrie
The Valkyrie was originally planned for use by the Star League Defense Force but production of the 'Mech did not start until after the fall of the Star League (2787). Because of this odd twist of fate, the only nation that possesses a large number of Valkyries is the Federated Suns. During the Succession Wars the Valkyrie became the standard light 'Mech of the Armed Forces of the Federated Suns in the lance of 'Mechs like the Wasp and Stinger. While not as fast as either design, the Valkyrie has an almost comparable ground speed, heavier armor, and a jumping distance just 30 meters shorter of either the Wasp or Stinger.

Spider
The Spider was originally designed by Newhart Industries as a 'Mech to be used by SLDF commando forces. Following the fall of the Star League, the Free Worlds League acquired the plans for the 'Mech and Nimakachi began producing it. The League was not interested in the design, so they began exporting it to an interested Draconis Combine. Eventually, they also began to produce it on their Lapida II plant. The 'Mech gets its name from the unique pattern on its chest that radiates from the Medium Laser mounts in its center torso. The Spider is one of the most maneuverable BattleMechs ever conceived. It has a ground speed that is comparable to a Locust and can out jump either the vaunted Wasp or Stinger light 'Mechs. Spiders are generally used as fast strike forces to hit an enemy's rear with lightning speed.[2][3]

Urbanmech and Hussar are the only two left from the timeline.

Just my two cents......what do you guys think?

Wasn't the JVN-10F Fire Javelin variant in production during the Succession Wars? Sarna mentions it, citing TR 3025.

@solis, It is possible, Battletech lore often contradicts itself, and a lot of it is scattered all over. I am in no means an expert, I know a thing or two to be sure, as Battletech will always be my favorite, but there is just too much to know, so I would say you could be correct.

I apologize for "necroing" an older thread, but after voting for a 40-tonner, I had to come back to the 30-ton thread. I also don't use Facebook.

I place my vote for the UrbanMech...BECAUSE I BELIEVE.
