I'm really interested in this game and I'm thinking of buying the elite founders package. However, I have an easy time getting a bit addicted and so want to make sure I've understood the games payment design correctly.

Am I correct in assuming that the only thing premium account will affect is the xp/c-bill bonus? So that it's not like, the without premium access you only have access to these 10 mechs but with premium you can get these other 10 too?

I looked at the Q&A and from what I understood it only affects xp/c-bill bonus, but it wasn't definate enough for me to dare to put 60 bucks into something I don't know if I will play past two months.

Thanks for any answers and sorry for asking something that might be obvious for others.

Premium gives you a XP/C-bill bonus, founders mechs give you a permament 25% C-bill bonus.

Wrong, you will be able to buy all the mechs available, there are no limitations on what you can buy.

You're correct: Premium only adds the C-bills and XP boost, you don't get "exclusive access" to any items that non-premium players cannot get (Founder's Mechs aside, but they only have an additional C-bill boost built in, and are otherwise identical to the non-Founders variant.

Seems your questions have been asnwered but I will try and sum up here.

Premium Account.
This gives you a 50% XP/Cbill Bonus, I have not heard about anything else.

Founders Mechs.
There are 1 of each weight class, these are the prime variant of their weight class, and there are only 2 differences from the non founder mec
Those differences are a different skin color, and a permanent Cbill bonus.
Elite Pack you get to choose 1 mech
Legendary Pack gives you all 4 mechs

Premium Content.
There are absolutely NO premium content.
Everything you can get with a premium account, you can get with a non premium account.
There are NO premium mechs and there are NO Ammo/weapons that are better than what anyone else can get.

Simply put, everyone have access to everything.

Hope this helps.

deadeye, i'm not sure how he was wrong with his question. he asked if there were other mechs that could be bought only with a premium account. that's a question, not a statement.

and DragonLord summed it up rather concisely. premium will help you gain c-bills and xp much faster but that's it. extra mech bays are purchased and can be purchased by anyone, using real money, as i understand it, but don't require a premium account to do so. i believe the founders who get mechs with their package get an extra bay for each of their founders mechs(1 mech = 1 extra bay, 4 mechs = 4 extra bays). i presume these are the bays those mechs occupy when they are received.

everything else you can get in the game, using M-cash(real money converted to game money), will also be available using C-bills. it'll just take longer to get there.

Thanks, nice. Now I'll get to buying it, and I'll just buy premium those months I've got a lot of cash AND time (unfortunately rare moments :P)

Non-premium players get 2/3 the experience and cash of premium players, so it won't really hinder you too much, it's just nice if you can afford it and helps pay PGI's bills. With a Founder mech on top of that versus a non-premium player with a standard mech, it'd be 2/3 the experience and a little over 57% of the payout the Founder will get. That's the most possible advantage as it stands.

In other words, it's strictly a 'get stuff done faster' benefit and it's by no means huge; being a completely 'free to play' player will not hugely disadvantage you compared to premium accounts and Founders but they will still have an edge, that they chose to pay for, in earning experience and C-Bills.

Paid users, either via Founders or future paying customers; won't get any kind of combat advantage over free users. They may get unlocks faster or have unique looking skins; but in actual combat they won't be driving or shooting with anything better than you. Think League of Legends; you can buy heroes, buy boosts, buy skins; but none of it improves combat performance vs a freebie user that just picked the hero off the Trial list or grinded for one. Piranha seems to be planning to mirror that business model, which is GOOD. If you want to pay you'll be properly rewarded for doing so; but it won't be required just to play the game competitively. P2W titles suck and I hate them as much as anyone else.
