I can play on whichever side - but Oni, where are you finding all this information? If you could share your sources so I can look up BT space combat that'd be great - otherwise I'm going to end up playing my units like a Star Destroyer!

http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Main_Page

follow it through the reunification wars, then hit jumpships, aerospace, warships and follow links inside the description, it takes some reading and being willing to track through the poorly put together reference links but it's all there, some of it is just common sense
(I.E. Aquilla Class Jumpships being used as patrol boats. 10 it explains how they were pressed into service during the Reunification war. 2) it lists sales to the Tuarian government, 3) you look at the weapons load and tonnage and voila you have an under-powered escort, that is fir for little more than boarder patrol and protecting orbital satellites from fighters.)

Everything else is listed by Periphery Warships, going to the Taurian Concordt page and then following manifacturers to what they produce. (I.E. for fighter craft of the Taurian concrodt you are looking at Sabres, Lightnings, Chippewas and possibly the Thunderbird. for their Dropships they produced the Union and Leopard. the manufacturers listing even breaks it down into engines, weapons, armor types, mechs, etc)

Hope that helps :D

Note if you were asking for task force examples though, I just took standard formations of ships from world war 2 task forces and altered them to fit here. Basically using the Pacific Fleet Battles and adopting the US is the Star League and the Taurian Concordt is more like 1943 era Japanese forces which relied heavily on light cruisers and destroyers..

Ahhh okay!
Found anything on the actual combat? I'll try and do some reading through that now - cheers mate!

EDIT: Subject to approval from the GM, I'd like to play either an Avatar Heavy Cruiser (http://www.sarna.net...vatar_(WarShip)) or a squadron of 3-4 Pinto corvettes (http://www.sarna.net...Pinto_(WarShip)). The Pintos would probably result in me having to play as the Taurians though, as I'm not altogether certain they were used by the SLDF.

If you're specifically looking at corvettes specifically

I'd look at anything that has been in service for at least 75 to hundred years or so (they'd be available on both sides by now)
Hence the why I mentioned the Vincent Class in both fleet examples

Also the following were used in teams of two each to support each other and are of older design
Bonaventure Class Corvette
Vigilant Class Corvettes

Also just a thought, why not do both if you think you'd enjoy it and the GM would allow. you could have a Avatar on the SLDF side and Pintos on the Taurians. I for one think it'd be a blast watching you describe the chaos and destruction as one day your corvette task force catches your Heavy Cruiser off guard or starts suicide tactics against it, etc. Just my two cents though

The Pinto's been around since 2502, but it only mentions being sold to periphery states, so I wasn't sure if the SLDF would use it. I'm sure they've ended up with a few captured, but I'm not sure if they'd end up placing a full squadron of them.
I was tempted by the Bonaventure/Vigilant combo, but as I intend to use the Pinto/Avatar in some other writing, I figured some practice where I could get feedback wouldn't hurt

EDIT: Though I am highly tempted to face them off against each other...
EDIT2: Just remembered, the Avatar can carry 6 dropships and 24 aerospace fighters - I'll definitely take the fighters, and I can take dropships (Of any calibre) if Listless wishes/anyone wants to play some dropships. Do pocket warships /assault dropships exist in this era?

Looks like most of the dropships are what you'd expect to find housing mechs and troops, but I'm sure that they were used as close support against fighters. just remember that with the cannon most dropships can't fire while attached in their docking collars.

Unions
Leopards
Probably Overlords on the SLDF side I'll look into it and see what I can find and try to post a listing or various dropships and aerospace fighters by both sides. maybe that'll help both our players and illustrious GM (that's right I'm a kiss up, it helps keep the big guns missing :P) with info for at least the Taurian Concordt and Star League Defense forces.

EDIT: I'll also go back and try to link each ship class already mentioned.

I genuinely wouldn't know if there was rules for that CG - but I was only taking the p*ss :P It'd make sense if there was two on one side...or we were fighting each other!

Sounds great Oni, may the dice gods serve you well :P
I found the Vengeance, Achilles and Avengers were all assault dropships for anti fighter and dropship duties, the Avenger was also used for attacking ground units to clear an LZ. But I have no problem hauling troop haulers and the like - just pointing out the option is available if wanted. I probably wouldn't want to RP a heavy cruiser and 6 assault dropships - that'd be quite close to god mode! But I have no problems with being the ship they're attached to/deploy from if the GM wants or someone needs a berth :P

Hope on steam, I'll send you a link to a torrent for every BT rulebook ever that I found this morning. One of them should have rules for rebuilding.

So I'm going to try to put together a formal sign up thread tonight - with the ships available, the rules, the sides, and the scenario. We'll use that thread for OOC questions and commentary, as well as anything else related to the naval story. This thread will be for general RP ideas, and for discussing future rps I might do.

Please continue to think about what side you'd like to be on SLDF or Taurian. Depending on how this one goes I'd be willing to do a second one in the future during the Amaris civil war.

I'm not totally opposed to players playing opposite sides, but I don't want it to become confusing, or lead story lines to become self contained as authors fight themselves essentially. We'll see in the sign up thread who we have and decide from there. I'm open to it - I just want this to go off well :P

Sounds good to me Nomad!
Don't worry, tempting as it is, I'll probably just pick one or the other - assuming my preferences make the list :P

Nightwing Class Surveillance Vessel http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Nightwing

Key: [denotes notes on the class, if there is a number it is a suggestion of limit] some units aren't mentioned as being specifically Taurin or SLDF so for ease of understanding I looked a most anything the SLDF were decommissioning or over a hundred years per-war and figured in sales and use to the Taurin Concordat aka. why they might a battleship or two and to bolster the fire power of their 4 fleets that are mostly frigate and lower classes.

Note: I have omitted all other Dropships for the fact that most of these will be filler and thus run as cannon fodder units I suspect. If someone what's to run one badly enough I'm sure Nomad can guide you in the right direction.

Hope this helps with making up your minds or pushing you in one direction or another :P

Vulcan aerospace fighters should be available for Taurian units, the Taurian Concordat is explicitly mentioned to have been given/purchased them. I'd suggest any Pintos probably came with a squadron (6 fighters) of Vulcans - saves on transportation costs, if nothing else.
EDIT: http://www.sarna.net...oSpace_Fighter)
Only the -3N is available in the current time, I thought the Amaris Coup and Reunification Wars were much closer together! So it's entirely possible the Taurian Concordat have never received any, despite it having been extant for 56 years. I shall let Nomad decide :P
