This was originally posted in the general forum, in the Depressing Mech Choices thread on page 10. It appears to be done by FlyingDebris (or by someone very good at copying his style) and I felt it should be posted here for folks to see and appreciate. I won't bother with quoting the whole post, just wanted to share the artwork and appreciate the re-visioning of a classic and (very) powerful 'mech.

The orignial artwork is on the right (obviously) and the updated artwork is in a word, spectacular. While the Flashman is not my favorite heavy 'mech design currently, it is definately in my top three. My favorite would have to go to the Black Knight (I just love the feel of that 'mech in the lore, and I have a penchant for Star-League era designs), followed closely by the Thunderbolt, and the Flashman being the third favorite. It's a rather uncommon design, not seen often on the battlefield. Though I can say, with its updated look shown here it is threatening the Black Knight as my new favorite heavy 'mech.

All credit to the artist, be it FlyingDebris, or whomever might have drawn it if it isn't a work by FD. As I said I make no claim to this, just posting it here so others can appreciate the excellent artwork.

You're quite welcome my good man :D

I for one want FD to re-do the basic line art of every 'mech on Sarna personally (Including the unseen). Some designs need it more than others, but Battletech is finally starting to look as cool visually as it has in my head all along. (and I've been playing/affiliated with battletech and mechwarrior for more than 15 years).

I know that'd be a tall order for a team of artists, let alone one single person.. but a man can dream dangit, a man can dream.

Looking forwards to seeing what's to come!

Thanks for posting this here. I'd have completely missed out on an incredible reworking of a rather silly looking 'mech.

You're very welcome Hana.

Yea I was just perusing the threads earlier out of boredome and happened across it. I figured it needed a bit more exposure and this would be the best way to garner just that.

The old 'Flashbulb' needed a facelift and it got just that thank goodness.

<S> See ya 'round.

Flashman been a favourite since MW2:Mercs, would love to see it in MWO (although looking up TRO its been lostech since first succession war). Hope the removel of round surfaces doesn't happen for all mechs, would ruin some, Raven would not be the Raven and the new Flashman above looks great but could do with a touch of roundness at least to keep that Flashman feel. Surely a curved surface would help deflect shots?
Despite that love the redesigns, would be great to see a MWO TRO online for launch.

I'd buy that for a C-Bill...or a million.

I'm hoping we will see some of the older, less-publicized 'Mechs--such as the Flashman--in MWO.

Just say the name of the 'Mech...Flashman! Add in some enthusiasm and strike a pose, then say Flashman! It increases its coolness (lol, coolness) by a factor of 11.

I am loving this new trend of round-cans ---> 'Boxy' Military. That edit looks fantastic, although nothing like the original. However, I believe the original looks too much like many other tincans, and ALL of them need a complete overhaul. In other words, I believe the artist in this case should have almost a blank canvas to work from, and this one looks fantastic with the compressed cockpit, which looks properly sunken into the torso, and the arm joints are thick and short, looking very realistic. +1
