Heavy Mech:

Thug (http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Thug)

Assault Mech:

King Crab (http://www.sarna.net/wiki/King_Crab)

These are two of my alltime favorite mechs and I've NEVER been able to play them haha.

Jack Gallows, I believe that by the 'current timeline' you specify, our cut-off point would be 3049 to maybe as late as 3050? I'll gladly play by that rule for my list. If I list an Unseen, I will gladly accept an extensive visual redesign. Units I'd like to see that go no later than 3049-3050ish are...

Assault:

http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Highlander - -733 or -732 version. I like the idea of a slow but jump-capable, general purpose unit. My only real qualm is the rarity of the chassis outside ComStar.
http://www.sarna.net/wiki/BattleMaster - While I find the BLR to be vastly overrated, it is the only assault of its kind in this era; one mixing good armor, above average speed, and good close combat weaponry along with at least a somewhat meaningful long range attack. It would be my "substitute for the Grand Titan" which I want more but is out of era for your poll/list.

Heavy:

http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Black_Knight - Any version. Classic design with a decent weapons profile for any range.
http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Guillotine - Any version. Jumping brawlers with a modest long range attack is a role I want to see filled.
http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Thunderbolt - Any version. A classic unit that easily lives up to its reputation as a general purpose front line heavy. Will gladly accept Project Phoenix art or some other form of it to have it in-game!

Medium:

None. Most of the Mediums I want are either out of era or have already been repeatedly suggested (such as the Phoenix Hawk).

Light:

None. I am legitimately happy with the Lights we already have, and the sole addition I would list is out of era.

Yea, early 3050 is the cut off of what I'd like to see in the thread, though one or two out of time frame that show up soon isn't going to hurt anything (much like how people enjoy the Bushwacker.)

I would love to see the medium mech Shadow Cat make a return.

One of my favorite mechs for speed, recon, and damage potential. What's not to love?

The fact that it's clan. So we won't be seeing it unless you go clan or kill one, which won't happen at launch. This thread is for that, so no Clan designs and nothing past early 3050.

Though yes, Shadow Cat is a good medium 'mech

Mediums should include the Shadow Hawk and Wolverine as they are 2/3 of the "classic" trio of medium mechs (the Griffin being the third).

And then Jason shows me I forgot a few.

Definitely nodding to the Panther; it has a significant niche to fill in a 'Mech roster. Likewise interested in the Wolverine (and will accept notably new art for it if need be), and the Banshee too. Esp. the -3M model. Truly a shame it took so long for the -3Mr upgrade to come about; it would have filled a fantastic spot in the FWLM Assault category if it were introduced in 3050-ish.

As a recon pilot i want to see the Locust http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Locust its very small/low profile its very fast and has a very large list of variants to handle the recon jocks play style. mine would be the LCT-1M its LRM-5 to take a pot shot at some one be hind the lines then run like hell to make their scouts come find who the heck is shooting LRMs so they are not trying to find out mechs

People really really really need to read the first post, or even look at the title of the thread.

Inner Sphere 'mechs only, up to 3049/3050.

The "Mad Cat" which is an IS designation for the Clan Timber wolf, doesn't meet the criteria of this thread. It's a Clan 'mech and won't be seen in the Inner Sphere until many many months after launch.

LAM's are an abomination and a blight on the Battletech universe. The idea of a LAM makes me want to vomit with rage.

It occurs to me I should probably clean this up. Should also look at the fact that we're going to have 12 'mechs (most likely,) at launch and try to slim down my picks to 3 per category. Why 3? No big reason, but as 'mechs come out after launch, I think they should be released in packs.

May also move the Unseen/Reseen to their own section, I doubt very much we'll see either.

Well, I have to start with the heavies. One of my favorites is:

http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Guillotine

This is a mech that is great as a short range brawler. It has an SRM6 and four medium lasers. Additionally, it has JJs and very nearly max armor on its 75 ton chassis. The ERLL is good primarily for range. If you want additional range, just swap the SRM for an LRM, maybe dropping an ML or two for the ammo or size you desire.

For mediums, I like the much maligned Shadowhawk

http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Shadow_Hawk

It has a variety of weaponry but is primarily designed for long to medium range stand off fighting.

In the Assalut category, it is the Battlemaster all the way.

http://www.sarna.net/wiki/BattleMaster

Again we have a multi-role mech with lots of armor and weaponry at all ranges.

Finally, light mechs. Here I like fast mechs and would go with the Hussar. It has squat for armor, but packs a large laser and 150+ KPH speed.
