I've been keeping this under my hat (out of respect for the Dev's and so as not to cause a stir), but since they are talking about it on NaturalPoint Forums I guess there is no need to keep it quiet.

Sent and email to NaturalPoint at the end of February, here is the response (personal identifiers edited)

Hello -

Glad you mention it. I've personally been in contact with those fellows, and they have our SDK for integration.

Additionally, as a fan of the old Fasa era systems, I'm eagerly awaiting this release.

Hello,

I'm not sure if you actively pursue game manufacturers or not, but if you have not been in contact with Piranha Games then you may want to take a look at Mechwarrior Online:

http://mwomercs.com/

Check out the trailer:

And you will see that your product would mesh very well with what they may be planning for the in cockpit experience.

Thanks for your time

Bob

Wow... how did I miss that when I read the article? Amazing news! I'd love confirmation on PGI's side as well.

I too request TrackIR support! This would be the ultimate implementation of the in cockpit free look you guys built into the game!

While i like the idea of TrackIR support a better and cheaper solution for all players would be Freetrack Support for both would be nice, and yes Freetrack can emulate TrackIR but explicit support for free software would be really nice from the get go.

It's funny this discussion took place for Arma 2 awhile back and the dev team said it wasn't viable, then in a recent patch they realized if they added Freetrack support people would use it.

I'd love Headtracking support, even if it's built into the engine via a proprietary headtracker, using homemade IR sources and webcams.

Good you mentioned it, I actually use Freetrack for ARMA2 myself, works pretty well, and I only spent like 30€ for the stuff I needed.
20€ for the cam, and 10€ for LEDs and stuff
I don't know how much better TIR is, but I don't like wasting 150€ on something I can use for one or maybe two of the games I play, so I make do with Freetrack.
Only downside is that with Freetrack, your CPU will have to do all the calculations, while TIR does most of that with it's own one. Then again, it doesn't seem to be too much load, so a standard multicore CPU should be able to handle it.
I'd really love to see Freetrack-support, alongside TIR-support!

Here is another vote for some FreeTrack support. The thing cost me less then $50 to setup and it is one of my most valued peripherals. I will not fly in IL-2 Sturmovik (Or any flight sim) without it running. The immersion just vanishes if it's not working.

I think TrackIR is a nice looking product. I just dont feel it's worth paying $150 when I can put it together myself for a 1/3rd the price. It really isnt that hard to build if you know how to use a soldering iron.

Anyway please include official support for it. They have a SDK available and I hate having to configure PPjoy to circumvent a lack of official support in games.

TrackIR support is a must have in any simulator. MWO should have it supported yesterday!

Ive been using Track IR since it was in original release and you had to attach a single dot (sticker) to something on your head, mine was an old pair of Oakley M frames with clear anti-glare lenses. Its now been many years and several upgrades to the current 6-Axis version and after all those years using it in IL2, MSCFS, iRacing, I find it really lacking in MWO with out it. I think for me getting Track IR and multi-monitor support are the highest things on my personal list.

I seriously hope the devs include TrackIR! It is something they said they would do when they started years ago, and it should not be too difficult.
