Jeehun Hwang is a composer, producer, and songwriter and was the guy responsible for the music for Activision's classic Mechwarrior 2. The developers should seriously consider contacting Jeehun into making an absolutely epic soundtrack for MWO. Here's one of the best tracks for MW2 Mercenaries, Phoenix Dawn:

I love this track. And I would love for him to do a soundtrack for MWO. A mixture of both Merc 2 and normal Mech 2 soundtrack styles.

What I'd like to see him do is re-do the most popular tracks with the current technology rather than old school midi.

Clearly MWO should be MW2.5.

Why do we need MW2 warmed-over?

That was a very long time ago, a different game altogether.

I'd rather they start fresh with their own vision, make something new and great.

Man, a lot of rose coloured glasses around these parts.

Why add both the old mw2 and mw4 tracks to the game along with a fresh new list of tracks with their own unique style to the game?

I disagree. I consistently go back and listen to the Mechwarrior 2 soundtrack. It's just great music which gives a feeling of epic adventure and combat. There's a number of different game soundtracks I do go back and listen to, and sure, my enjoyment is likely cemented by the fact that it is accompanied by the fond memories from my childhood, but to claim that's the only reason it was good music? Hardly.

I kinda like the feel of the hard rock they've used so far in conjunction for the IS, but I would love if, when the invasion finally comes, they add a secondary soundtrack more similar to the style used in MW2 for the clans (once they're actually available for play, of course).

I somehow disagree with all the joy towards soundtracks from previous MW games. Yes, perhaps few of them were decent, but most was rather poor, even in the standards of game soundtracks, not saying about soundtracks in general.

Wish it'd be otherwise, but Mechwarrior games shouldn't really be prised for Music. Perhaps games like Homeworld or Red Alert, but Mechwarrior? It's mostly just "meh" kind of tracks.

I'd prefer if they'd record something new, epic, and memorable.

I agree. My first Battletech game was MechCommander, so those tracks still give me goosebumps... but if I play it to my new lancemates who aren't BT fans from the 90s, they honestly couldn't care less. I did play MW2, not as much as MC, so these tracks still hold nostalgia for me, but MAN they're dated!

I realy love that track in the OP, but only because i loved playing that game and beeing honest... on itself it's not that great. It certainly does not give me the same feeling of "let's blow something up" that i get when i'm listening to the original Quake soundtrack... and no, i'm not suggesting calling Trent Reznor to work on the MWO soundtrack, I'm just pointing out that the soundtrack of MW2:Mercs was not that great, and most of the nice memories and emotions i associate with it come from the awesome gaming moments that happend while it played and not from the music itself.

All I know is whoever did that founders mech video music shouldnt do anything else. I dont like being that critical, but the music accompaniment is for lack of a nicer word, cheesy. Seriously. The riff is like a bad first pass by a 3rd year guitar player... The opposite of rockin.
Stylistically, should be looking for something more along the lines of the trigun opening theme.
