Especially given the in game time = real time measurment. Imagine deciding to start a fight on a planet then literally waiting two weeks till the fight

Exactly. It just doesn't compute.

one faction domination will be measured in milimeters not miles.

well each jumpship can only transport a certain amount of mechs to the warzone.you only have a certain amount of jumpships. then mechs have to be repaired and are out of order for a while. each regiment only has a certain amount of mechs. then you have to bring in reinforcements. that all costs time and planning.
and i really hope there will be system which will make it impossible to attack with assault mech lances only all the time. i'd soon be sick of playing with an atlas lance against an atlas lance all the time. having a good mixture of tonnage will make the fights much more interesting in my opinion.

i hope these points will take a role in the community warfare planning.

Eh I dunno, I've seen random people pull out over those Squawk peeps quite a few times, not really worried only times I have seen them outright win is when you get that team of people who scatter off the bat and die one by one. Even then, typically they just win by base cap anywho.

Other House's don't need to worry about how jump ships work. All other factions will be on the defensive against House Liao anyhow as we will all have dual guass 140KPH Super Jenners as a special House Liaos Perk...

well except the mercs who will fight on the winning side (Liao) because that is the smart side when you want to get paid.

Liao, if they followed tradition at this time, has few factories able to make Heavy and Assault mechs (Most factories were lost in the 4th Succession War in the mid-3020's). They usually rely on mechs like the Vindicator (45 ton mech) or the Raven. That is one part not in their favor.
A second part is that Romano Liao is a psychotic b**** with tendencies to 'purge' undesirable elements or to engage in actions with the similar maturity of a child throwing a tantrum.

Why bother playing against House Liao and those guys, even with a good game it will end in ridicule for you and how much you are a loser since they respect no one but themselves...how the hell it hasn't imploded already is beyond me...

Ridicule us all you want, victory is all that matters.

As for why we haven't imploded... the non-goon units of House Liao are also working hard to become a well organized and cohesive unit as well.

While the rest of you peons are talking **** about the Goons, we are following their lead and learning a great deal about organization, tactics, and mech builds. We are also learning to WORK TOGETHER AS A TEAM, and this is what will decide the outcomes of war.

So if you focus on the flaily end of goondom then the match-up with Liao is pretty good...
Less so with the semi-pro end but ya gets ya chuckles where ya can.

Well if the devs don't implement some kind of 'diminishing returns' with regard to community/faction warfare, it might end up one-sided.
With 'diminishing returns' in this context I mean things like maintenance, upkeep or just constant effort that grows the farther you get, the stronger you become, the more you possess.

But who cares? If it sucks, avoid it and do something else. It's a game. If the devs care, it'll be alright, if they don't, you won't be able to prevent it anyway.

Personally, I hope they keep it in check and set some limits so the whole thing stays halfway true to the original story.
Even with thousands of players, it's probably only a fraction of the game world's military.
It's nice if the players can create content. But if that content is one-sided, boring or ridiculous, it's worth is void.

Somehow, given we have free reign to **** our founders mechs, I doubt this will be an issue

I dont remember them being bigger
BoB was the last big One as I remember.

http://youtu.be/d7IxkhIXwPE

I dont remember them being more than half of 0.0

-.- only the border worlds?
Thats far less cool than I thought it would be

Is that only the borders for now or what cause a map with changable lines is what I was hoping for not said milimeters

ah no its not actually

Quote

Core Worlds – Are managed by the dev team. These are worlds that necessary for future planning and part of major historical events.

Faction Worlds – Are fought over by Faction players. These planets buffer core and border worlds, and do not play a significant role in major historical events. Rewards for controlling these planets are directly linked to global bonuses and abilities associated with a player’s Faction.

Border Worlds – Are fought over via a contract bidding system by player run Mercenary Corporations. These planets change hands on a regular basis, and have no impact on historical events. Rewards for controlling a boarder world are significant and go directly to the occupying Merc Corp.

It’s important to state now, that worlds can change from Border to Faction to Core, or any combination thereof, at any time by the development team. This will be necessary to facilitate dramatic changes in faction territory control as we progress through some tumultuous times within the BattleTech® universe.
Faction Worlds

The battle for control over faction planets is a simple war of attrition. The faction with the most influence over a particular planet occupies it. By virtue of simply competing in online matches, faction players contribute influence points to target planets.
Border Worlds

Mercenary Corporations can bid and fight for occupation rights of border worlds throughout the Inner Sphere. Merc Corps must bid on a planet’s occupation rights via a system of contracts generated by the game.
A match or series of matches are set up between the defending Merc Corp and the challenger. The victor is determined from the results of each match, and takes control of the planet. They are rewarded with an immediate contract payout, and will continue to earn rewards while they occupy the planet.

House Liao isn't so great and mighty as you think right now. Yeah, the Goons are aligning with them, but there's another massive, multi-game community backing Steiner, and I believe they have a lot of merit. Competition will certainly exist. Plus, Liao has the fewest players (last I checked, which was a while back, so I could be wrong) but I'm not sure exactly how much numbers will effect dominance.

Edit:

Covenant of the Phoenix! Found it! They're actually a merc corp though, although they plan to align with Steiner.

If I recall correctly, the planet capture post noted applies only to Mercenary units that have bid to take a planet. How the House conflicts will play out has not been seen yet.

My guess is that there will be a set time frame when House A is fighting House B and the matches between them are tallied for a final winner after X hours or days. Seems to be the only way to handle drop in, 24-hour warfare. In such a case a House that can organize and keep large numbers of voice connected groups "in the field" will have the advantage.

But can any house "win"? Win what? I don't believe that the devs plan to allow a single house to unify the inner sphere in deifance of the canon history. There might be some type of arbitary resource or victory points that can be ammassed to "win" I suppose.

Well said Noah,

While everyone else is wasting time and energy worrying and talking about the unmentionables,

House Liao mech warriors from house lore & canon units and our revered merc allies, are using our energy to strategise via tactics and training, to aide us in our plan to stomp muddy mech paths to the capitals of the other 4 houses, in preparation for the long awaited clan invasion.

Oh, my what a brick wall we have planned for when that day arrives.

Free drinks on me at the screaming calf ! Come check out the new digs !

And to add a note: since we have no idea and no confirmation as to just exactly how the faction wars will or will not happen, the rest is just speculation.
