I was thinking about maps I'd like to see and this came to mind so I painted it.

It's essentially an all caves map. This picture depicts the central junction, fastest way through, and the largest room. A killing field. Besides this room there are a number of small rooms and tunnels that go over, under, and around meeting up in various places and ending at either base. Most of the map would be in total darkness besides a few artificial lights and the roof cracks. This map is designed for sneaky players and traps. The tight passages make it harder to get around and easier to form a bottleneck.

The bases would be the cave entrance and a mining base farther inside.

Details could be supply crates, supports, giant drills and heavy trucks.

how about if it was in an hollowed out asteroid? low gravity aswell maybe?

Oh yeh, spotlights for the mechs would be ideal for a map like this, (yeh I know about thermal/night vision)

I had considered that. I guess I felt better about how controlled gravity effects a map. Water, details, above sun light.

Hmmm no love for this thread since what, December?

Seems to me we should be promoting it more rather than just critiquing the current maps offered/planned. He's a go at that.

My vote for a small heavily forested area ("Forest" colony is a joke). Maybe one or two small hills that would no doubt be contested vantage points. The thing would be that the "trees" would need to be giants 15+ meters tall covering the mechs within. Some forest trails would exist sure but for the main it would require Mechs to plod through it most likely on Thermal vis.

Some sudden deep pools of water or ditches would keep you wrestling with the environment maybe a single mid sized open area like a forest clearing would be useful - especially if it contained a resource point.

Naturally if/when trees become destroyable terrain this would change the maps dynamics. But as things are at present I see the heavy slow mechs trundling to the clearing but the light mediums fading in and out of the trees harassing but unable to cross the open space without getting chewed on pretty well.

The lights would get great cover sure but the terrain would limit their speed. The Heavys would be slower still but such a map could be an infighters paradise. So it might benefit folks across the weight classes but in different ways. ?

Best I could see to match my idea on a quick search was this :Posted Image
