Of the four 35-ton mechs listed, I voted for the Wolfhound. If you're talking about piloting one of these mechs into battle I say forget the Ostscout and the Raven. While good for recon they're not combat mechs in my opinion. If you're piloting the Panther and you run out of ammo for your missile launcher and your mechs arm gets blown off, you’re out of luck (and weapons). The Wolfhound has no ammo dependency issues and if you lose an arm, you still have the medium lasers in the torso, and it was built to counter the Panther.

If I could pilot any mech, I still want a Warhammer.

Anyone that votes for any mech other than the Panther is a tool of the corrupt governments of the 4 evil houses that seek undeserved leadership of the Inner Sphere.

Can't believe the Wolfhound is winning. It's not a bad mech, but it's boringly optimized, it's essentially a Medium mech in a light mechs body, effective in combat for it's mass, but never described as a scout... The Raven would be a good addition to the list so far. The Ostscout? Well it would depend on what it's modules ended up being, it's certainly NOT a combat first mech.

I love the Wolfhound, it my favourite light 'mech (I might even go as far as to say it is my favourite 'mech) for a number of reasons but even I have to agree that it is not a great choice for a starting 'mech.

It is highly optimised and efficient, I have used in the tabletop game to take down 'mechs as large as riflemen (with a bit of luck) and it can easily compete with most of the 50 & 55 tonners in TRO 3025 (TRO 3039 now).

In addition it's also not a common 'mech outside of the FedCom armed forces and some very elite and loyal mercenary units. So as a possible scout or command 'mech upgrade down the track yes, but if it's available at the started what do I have to build upto latter on.

By the way I disagree about it not being a scout 'mech, I think it is an excellent heavy scout, scout hunter or long range raider.

In regards to which 35 tonner get's my vote, well sorry but if said the panther your just being greedy, that means the DC get three of their their 3025 signature 'mechs on release, added to that the Hunchback, Atlas and catapult are common DC 'mechs means that the combine is getting a fairly large advantage on started.

I've never been a huge fan of the Raven, it's a little too specialised and should really be attached to command lances instead of scout lances.

The Ostscout is an interesting choice and is the best example of a pure recon 'mech in the game, but given that it looks like their is going to be less then 20 'mech on release I would prefer something a little more generalised.

That leaves the firestarter which would be an excellent choice, well armoured, reasonable fast and with a nice mixed armament.

So +1 for the Firestarter.

Voted Ostscout. Props for digging out one I'd forgotten about. It fits well with the 'role warfare' idea of this game, where scouting is supposed to truly matter.

I think the raven is the best choice in the 35t catagory with out a opertion out line.
The raven has the best all around electonics. it has sufisnet fire power to be competive with outhe light Mechs and it can TAG targits to big for it to handel for long range fire support

were are the 35 tons that we choose from? honestly my favourite in mechwarrior4 vengence was the shadowcat simply beause it was the only 35 ton mech that could hold the long tom artylillary cannon wich is a completly horrbile weapon to have on there beacuse it over heats and doesn't have much ammo along with the reload time but its a super fun screw around mech

also the raven is a fun mech to play as its the one of the few mechs that can run away while shooting you thats thanks to its massive torroso turn

Can we have all of them?

I'd love to see a Panther in game but I know my scouting roots want an Oscout or the less manuverable Raven. Wolfhound is just a beast of a machine too! Argh choices!

i like panther, but not to scout, if we are looking a scout i should vote Raven or Ostcout, better ostcout, but to good players.

Hmm I think you may have mixed up your 'Mechs there. The Shadow Cat is a 45 ton Clan OmniMech that the InnerSphere won't be seeing for another year or so after this game releases.

I've always been a fan of the raven, a nice dependable mech with excellent electronics, exactly what a good scout needs

Which is the "best?" Well, for basic combat stuff, its the Wolfhound, IMHO. As someone said, it is "boringly optimized;" it has little heat issues, is still reasonably fast, and has more armor than most 45-ton mechs.

As for fun? Panthers are fun, because "big-gun-on-little-Mech" is fun to play around with. Depending on the model, it is a heat MONSTER, tho. The Raven is a great option, but only if you have friends! If you are solo, any stealth advantage you have will go away when an opponent turns a PPC or ER Large on ya. But with friends? You can be ALL KINDS of trouble!

And the Ostscout? Just fun to drive. It is IRRESPONSIBLY fast! Just go for maximum-height DFAs all day long; if ya die, so be it. You died LIKE A BOSS!
