OK, so, with PGI having the rights to the Video Game Segment of the BattleTech Universe . .
Are you guys the right ones to ask for a new MechCommander Game?

After having played Warhammer 40k - Dawn of War 2, i could not help but feel that the Engine would be basically perfect for a MechCommander Game.

So, what are the chances?

For the other MechFans:
What would you like to see in a new MechCommander?

Mechwarrior: Tactical Command is being made for iOS. From the description it pretty much sounds like Mechcommander

I would take the gameplay from either Mechcommander game just with the better engine and graphics.

No other Ideas?
Like Drop-Ship-Operations?
Artillery?
Aero-Space-Units?
Infantry/Support-Vehicles?

Come on people, be a bit creative, as long as you keep it in universe and especially MechCommander appropriate!

Dude, that's a bad joke to me, at best . . If it weren't developed solely for ios, it might have a future, but like that? no way.

Booo... hiss....

That said.. I KNOW Microsoft has a way to port iOS to WindowsPhone.. Just saying..

I assume no amount of begging to this Dev Team will help..

But maybe a link they can pass on :

To other Dev teams..

Blizzard took starcraft and gave it a new engine and some shiny graphics and made a mint with starcraft 2.

an option to play without some kind of a story getting in the way of my mech collecting and upgrading. just give me contracts and a million worlds to complete the jobs on.

If Petroglyph wasn't so busy with End of Nations I'd say lease the MechCommander IP to them to make a game. For those who don't know Petroglyph is Westwood studios.

I mean even if they made Red Alert 2 with Mech. Would you really complain. ;)

Fun fact: Early Westwood Studios incarnation helped develop/publish (I don't recall their exact role) the first BattleTech games, which pre-date Mechwarrior.

Yes, i would complain about Westwood Studios right now . .
Never been a big fan of the Red Alert part of command and conquer either.

Also: yes, randomly generated maps/missions would be a nice idea to keep people playing.

in my honest opinion, Mechcommander 2 sucked, it had some cool concepts like the ingame forces u could call upon ( repair truck, recon helicopter, and throwing a pilot in a salvaged mech ingame ) but Mechcommander Gold is SO much better.

my fear if they were to remake it today, they'd over do it, but id love to see an attempt

Everything from Mechcommander and Mechcommander 2, reimagined in a "back to the roots but with better execution" way similar to MWO, with a Mercs-style campaign (you own a mercenary unit, choose contracts, e.t.c....), more units, more tech, the ability to deploy vehicles and infantry... and all of that with a pink bonet on top.

DEVELOPERS (and lovers of Mechcommander) PLEASE READ! This is EXACTLY the discussion I was hoping was out there.....and hoping that developers read!

How about a new Mechwarrior game using the XCOM game engine? I like the idea of the DOW game engine for a pure RTS; however, a turn-based destruction fest using the XCOM perspective/scale (but maybe better graphics) would be a true homage to the table-top roots of Battletech!!! Aaaaand discuss....

 . . . I blame you for liking your own post.

(we don't do that around here)

BUT! Well... I've burned a lot of time with both Dawn of War 1 and 2, and tabletop BTech, but not XCOM.
Personally I'd get a kick out of another RT/Turn Based hybrid like Inception. Heck, I'm replaying it in spurts here recently and loving it in ways that can't be attributed to nostalgia. The damage that lasts from one mission to the next, diverse and accurate modelling of mechs and vehicles from the 3025 TRO. (Not worrying in the least about "balance" and suchlike :) ), yea, I could dig a new one.

Oh god no, I thought people playing MWO would at least have a taste when it comes to the C&C games. Liking Red Alert 2? It's an abomination just like C&C3/4 RA3. Tiberian Sun was the first game where the C&C IP went downhill. C&C Generals, that was the only game that was likeable and was something unrelated to the original C&C/RA. And that game frggn flopped. I wonder if you guys played the original C&C and RA, because everyone I know that like the abomination never played the original games. RA2/C&C3 is like duplo whereas C&C/RA is on a lego (technic) cool level. MechAssault = RA2 and Mechwarrior 2 Mercs = C&C/RA, it's a kinda ok game, but isn't even close to what we wanted. Even Frank Klepacki didn't do his best on the soundtrack. Damn you EA.

It's like with Indiana Jones 4 and Star Wars 1,2,3 where they were ****** my childhood games. Dune2, C&C, RA, Dune2000.. Those were the only RTS games Westwood created in my eyes.

Yeah, I get kinda riled up when talking about Westwood Studios.

OT: The MechCommander games were brilliant! I would really like a 3rd release.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to lie down in a corner of my room in fetal position slightly crying because of the memories the posts about RA2 awakened in me.
