OK, firstly, I know all you "pro" gamers are rolling your eyes and saying "real gamers use M+KB!".

Yeah, yeah, whatever. If I was playing an FPS, I would agree. I'm not. It's a piloting SIM, so if ya got nothing useful, go troll some other topic, please.

But since I prefer 'Stick for Mech games, and I knew the above mentioned design had already been mapped and profiled and whatever, I figured it to be worth a look. Firstly was surprised that in most ways it seemed laid out very much like my old, beloved Microsoft Sidewinder PP (which I have doubt's will be profiled due to age, non-production status, etc.). Price was great too.

Only question is, will it "limber up" with a lot of use? I have only used it on a couple games of MW4, and MAN is it stiff. Was not 100% sure if that was the nature of the stick, or the profile on the game, or what. Any idea?

I recall there being a post that was exactly about your question, but encompassed a very wide variety of HOTAS and Joysticks. I'll see if I can dig it up.

It's a passable joystick, but not a great one, and not a very durable one. It's nothing like the old MS Sidewinders (which were the greatest thing since sliced bread in terms of all-in-one joysticks, imo). I quickly tired of mine and simply bought a used MS Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 instead (actually it was bought for me, still, best $40 investment I've made in awhile).

Ultimately I just settled on mouse/keyboard for MWO, but it doesn't mean sticks don't come in handy in gaming in general (would never pilot a BF3 chopper with M/KB, for instance)

the tension is what makes the stick viable and accurate. it however isnt very sturdy.. usually the left turn input will be the first to mess up on those... ive had atleast a dozen of that stick. i never could understand how everyone liked the limp noodle called the MS pp.

This is the topic I was referring to. I think your stick is somewhere on the list.

Uncharacteristically, my Logitech 3D Pro JS has worked FAR longer than the 3 MS Sidewinders I had previously. Use the JS software to adjust. Have you tried it on MW:LL? I suggest that you do. contact me once you start playing that game, I can tell you my actionmapper settings. I also use a Nostromo n52 with the JS.

Dunno, but I was able to snipe while running and jumping at 80+ kph with that limp noodle. I have my SW PP still, and am hoping against hope it'll eventually get profiled, so I can demonstrate just how "inferior" said limp noodle is. And I'd still take it against ANY setup, and feel totally confident in my ability to deliver precise attacks on the move.

I'm just annoyed that the stick doesn't automatically track the Z axis so that when I center the stick, the torso automatically centers as well.

PS:
And I've owned the Sidewinder Precision Pro, the Thrustmaster HOTAS X (or rather an older version of same) and now the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro. I have to say I liked the HOTAS best, mainly for the separate throttle control. The only thing about that one I disliked was the rudder on throttle. I would have preferred more buttons on it instead.

Mine centers -- either your JS is bad or in serious need of calibration.

using the Logitech software:
I have my twist/z-axis sensitivity set at 74%, deadzone at 0%, range at 100%
my x-axis and y-axis are set to sensitivity at 50%, deadzone at 0%, and range at 100%.
my y-axis has the invert axis polarity box checked

I set my hat switch to show the big map ("B")when pushed "up" and off when I push it again. down is set for the "Q" button. not decided what I want left and right to be.

I assume you had to adjust your user.cfg file?
If so, please copy and paste it here.

As for the hat, I have my hat up to cycle Zoom, left and right to toggle weapon groups and buttons 3,4,5,6 to fire groups 3 through 6. I'd have preferred Hat left/right to free look, but can't seem to get that to work right either.

the following is all I have done to my config file:

r_MotionBlur = 0
cl_fov = 75

That's the problem with computers, "identical" software and hardware and things behave the way they want.

By free look, I believe you to mean look left and right - doesn't work in this game (yet)
