Not originally. It has expanded the meaning to a point where virtually any online game is an MMO though. Originally an MMO had a single persistent world that if you wanted to you could cram every player into one area of the world to crash it. However, companies like to teh buzz of MMO, thus apply it to things that really aren't MMOs.

12 on 12 is fine for Battletech. Larger would only work if there were more supporting elements, like tanks and jets, and fewer actual battlemechs.

if i remember correctly Mechs are only 1/16 of the fighting force in a battle and is usually only a lance or 2 per planitery campaign wile the rest is Body Armour Infantry, Hover craft and tanks , and yes arial fighters plus the LAMs and yes on planets with large waterways there is boats and warships if you added every element of the armed services the battle feild would look like this:

8-12 mechs
1000-2000 infantry
100-500 tanks/hovercraft
20-30 fighterplanes/bombers/LAM
5-20 boats/warships(where applies)

as you can see mechs are the dominant elite for a reason there are few and they are powerful walking destruction

im most battles mech on mech battles are seldom on campaigns but does happen ocasionally

to say it in short, easy terms: there is an army of pawns, and there is a few, shiny, heroic and sooo goddam cool knights :P

well in simplicity yes if you ever see Mechs oppose eachother directly its because that is a major planet of importance as most 90% the other forces are sufficient as well as economically fitting as it costs more for to make and equip a full 3 lances of Battle mechs however the other units cost 50% less to equip and are cheaper on resources with the Naval warships a exception of the rule as why not so many of them seen in battle unless on a world with water

I wonder if half the people in this thread ever bothered reading any of the Dev Blogs.

Instead of arguing over conjecture here you should all be lobbying for a real matchmaker somewhere.
