"No no, we'll need you to be piloting our 'Mechs. Those are the ones we've signed up."
The mercenary across the table grunted. "What 'Mechs?"
"Custom variants of some very old designs. A Flashman and a Spartan."
"You serious?"
"Yep. You in?"
"I drive mediums, nothing that heavy. Let me know if you need a lighter pilot."
The merc stood up, nodded and left.
"Didn't go poorly."
"Nope."
"So I wonder why our old friends from Bonette are pretending they don't know us, eh Spear?"
"Aye, I be wondering that myself Szadowsz. They'd make terrible spies, eavesdropping just behind us." Spear leaned back in his seat and tweaked Will's ear. "So boyo? What's your game?" He grinned.
